dmcjohn in Ireland owned that for a few years when it was black. He bought it as a project car in NI but never really got working on it. The current owner has done a great job recommissioning it to the condition it is in presently.

Ah yes remember it now (I knew the deep front lip was familiar). NJI northern Irish reg I think it sold a few years back for somewhere around 8 or 9k didn't it?
That's the one. Don't recall the price.
I'm sure it will get a reasonable price (if the sale actually goes through, lot of timewasters on Ebay. Buyers that is) there are soooo many people seeking a DeLorean at the moment in the UK

On Ebay for 30k http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DeLorean-DMC- ... 747wt_1348
However please check carefully something does not seem right about this advert, strongly advise not to hand over any money until you can see the car.
Chris
That's a weird on alright.

It was for sale on US ebay recently (last month), with a Buy-it-Now of $35k, so it is possible the current seller bought it and is trying to make a few bob on it.

But, agreed, even if it was 10k, I wouldn't part with a penny until I saw it in the flesh, in this case
Yes, the more I think about it, I think it's probably OK, but there are to many discrepancies in the listing, things contradicting each other (IVA!) and the pictures just being taken from the old ebay advert. But I think it's probably a mixture of ebay adverts that contradict each other!
Chris
This car now back for sale as being in the US with a 'buy it now' of 22k http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DeLorean-DMC- ... 33978470fe
All very strange :?:
Chris
Taken at face value it looks a good car, plus shipping costs and taxes that would push it up to fairly strong money. But still it looks OK to me.

I just hope its not some sort of scam.
One in Ireland on Ebay for 30K, apparently had a recent full re-wire! may be worth checking out, shame there are no pictures of the chassis & engine. But looks very nice inside and the description reads well. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1981-DeLorean ... 2c907c566a
I don't think Ciaran will mind me mentioning, that the car in the background is one of the earliest built cars in existence . Really special. Its one of the RIA factory cars I mentioned in the other thread.

This man knows his classic cars!

Didn't think that comment about the wiring commonly causing fires in DeLoeans was particularly fair.
Well its not my advert, but I do know of two cars who had serious problems in NI.

One was caused by a sticking engine bay switch that melted the plastic light all over the very hot silencer. And another one that burnt out the engine bay, but I don't know the cause.

But I do agree that most wining faults result in melted fuses and things failing to work, rather than fires.

Personally I ALWAYS use a battery isolator, every single time I get out of the car. Just a precaution.
Having suffered an electrical engine fire on one of my VW's, not nice, can we see pics of what & where you've mounted isolator?
I don't even know where a battery is on a D, I'd guess boot for weight distribution. No? Yes?
Cheers Karl.
