  DELOREAN HIRE
Posted by: killigarth- - 28 Aug 2023, 15:30 - Forum: TV/Film Hire and Work Requests - Replies (4)

We are a Holiday park  near Polperro cornwall and are holding an end of season "back to the future" themed  owners party. We are looking to hire a Delorean to make a static display at the entrance to our club with our club decorated with various scenes from the film and people dressed in "back to the future " fancy dress. If any members have a Delorean they would hire to us, We would be glad to provide them with accommodation and to invite them to join our celebrations. I can be contacted at the following e mail address.
killigarth-admin@johnfowler.co.uk.

Many thanks

Peter Stephen

Seal for top of original AC compressor?
Posted by: frostrobo - 26 Aug 2023, 17:44 - Forum: 7 - Heating / Air Conditioning - Replies (2)

Hi,
My AC was tested for leaks recently before getting it refilled and it was all good aside from the plug on the top of the compressor. The original seal for that has deteriorated and needs to be replaced.  This doesn't seem to be a seperatly available part, but is there a cross reference for the type of seal/o-ring that I can get hold of? My local garage didn't have anything suitable to fit on the day,
The photo shows the nut with the missing seal.

Thanks
Simon

  Frequency valve removal
Posted by: Justwatching - 23 Aug 2023, 20:56 - Forum: 2 - Emission / Fuel Systems - Replies (2)

I received a sobering warning from Rissy at the Really Retro Show to change my fuel lines or risk losing my car to fire. So I've been changing the lines one at a time over the last week. I've only got the frequency valve and return line left to go, but it's not clear how I get one of the lines to detach from the frequency valve (the one with no visible fastener).

Do I just pull, twist, and grunt at it? Or is there more to it? I'm trying to not break something as the Morgan factory tour is only a couple of weeks away.

  5222's bizzare no start
Posted by: theningiachicken - 20 Aug 2023, 15:50 - Forum: 1 - Engine - Replies (22)

not entirely sure what the hell to do now.

Friday - started and ran pretty well after getting the 2 fuel leaks sorted and stage 1 exhaust on

Saturday - Cranks but no fire:  checked fuses, relays, inertia switch and grounds

Sunday (Today) - still no fire even with a little brake cleaner and all plugs removed and cleaned (I did 1 at a time so HT leads wouldn't get mixed up), checked for spark which I do, and added 5L to the tank and still nothing.

so I'm not sure what I'm missing but I haven't touched anything that could stop the car from starting, Facebook lot aren't being very helpful by telling me "check grounds" or "battery is failing" even though I'm getting a good spark from the plugs.

could the ignition ecu be on its way out or one of the relays? I get a re-prime on failed start and I hear the relays clicking so I have no idea what's wrong

  Minehead DeLorean photo op
Posted by: Rissy - 15 Aug 2023, 11:40 - Forum: Off topic talk, general chat etc - Replies (7)

I’ll apologise now if this one has already been hit, but I’m in Minehead right now and after playing some slots in the beach front arcade, instead of looking down all the time, I looked up.  Low and behold I saw this right above my head!

I was wondering if anyone knew anything about this.  The car? The owner?  When it was taken?

  London ULEZ charging
Posted by: Rissy - 04 Aug 2023, 12:31 - Forum: Off topic talk, general chat etc - Replies (4)

I got into a conversation with colleagues at work about the new London ULEZ expansion, and we all started checking the status of our cars against their rules.

This is the webpage to do this:

https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/check-your-vehicle/

I'm OK for my "ordinary" vehicles, but it seems that they want £12.50 a day from me for Lex on top of the congestion charge, despite it being registered as a historic vehicle for over a year now.

Anyone else get the same result?

It's all very well and good them stating it, but if their tools don't pick up on it, then how are you supposed to "plan your journey" efficiently....?

The Great British Car Journey in Derbyshire are holding their
annual DeLorean Day on August 28th.

Details here:  https://greatbritishcarjourney.com/themed-events/

I won't be able to attend as I'll be on holiday, but if you can
post on this thread if you want to go along, and either myself or
possibly Rich Hanlon, who's local to the event, can keep the organisers
updated on numbers.

No 6 Exhaust valve issue ouch!
Posted by: Darrere - 30 Jul 2023, 18:38 - Forum: 1 - Engine - Replies (1)

Well I finally got chance to remove my RH A/C side 4,5,6 cylinder head to inspect for damage after the auto box failed to kick down from 2nd to 1st causing the engine to over rev.

Not a pretty sight at all! Replacement cylinder head required!

Thank you Chris for the support tool.
