NEC 2020, Cancelled. AGM Notification Active
Posted by: Chris Williams - 12 Jul 2020, 20:17 - Forum: DOC National Events, Car shows, AGM's and others - Replies (25)

It seems despite all the things going on that the organizers seem to think (and are making plans) for this event to go ahead, there have been many emails about how and the precautions around it and they seem confident that the event will be allowed to go ahead.
So on the back of this I would like to ask for volunteers to supply cars (assuming we are offered a stand) for the long weekend.
As well as the normal manning of the stand etc etc.
We will also hold the mandatory AGM over this weekend as well so please accept this as the mandatory notification of this.

DeLorean Wanted - Closing in on the 33 year old dream
Posted by: mattjeh - 11 Jul 2020, 18:01 - Forum: DeLorean Cars or Parts For Sale or Wanted - Replies (25)

Hi all. As I mentioned in my introduction thread I am closer to purchasing my own DeLorean than I ever have been before, expecting the funds to be available very soon. Thus completing a dream I've had of owning one for 33 years!

But I'd really value some advice from you guys, I have been looking around and have my eye on a couple. As I'd really like to have one decided on prior so when the money is there I can sort it straight away (providing it didn't sell in the meantime).

Unfortunately I'm mechanically inept so I'd be looking for one with all the major issues sorted already, so a good day to day runner without big problems that requires minimum maintenance (and lining up a friendly classics friendly garage for any other work).

I don't have a preference on year or bonnet style, black or grey, but I do want a manual. Is there anything perhaps becoming available that is not advertised publicly at the moment?

I know what I'm looking for, a non-project will take me to the upper £30k bracket but I'm expecting this to not be a problem financially.

So I've obviously seen the £42k one currently listed for sale here on the club (VIN 2677). What would be an objective assessment of this car? Good price for a good runner with 66k on the clock? Anything left on it to fix or replace mechanically?

This one has also caught my eye https://deloreanforsale.weebly.com/history.html / https://www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk/del...tv95008337 (with very low mileage). Same questions, what would be left to do and any obvious pitfalls that I'd have to be booking in to my local garage for?

Any other advice or tips that I need to take into consideration when looking for a good runner?

Self-professed Delorean newbie here, any help and guidance would be greatly appreciated.

We are looking at booking a DeLorean to take him from Robin Hood's Bay to York Center, is anyone on hear able to do this or know anyone that would be willing? We will obviously pay for the privilege! It would be a great surprise present for him I just hope someone can help.

Please let me know, thankyou.

  What's this from?!
Posted by: Rich Hanlon - 05 Jul 2020, 22:24 - Forum: Off topic talk, general chat etc - Replies (4)

Hi folks, calling all petrolheads to try to identify what this is from! I've found it in my box of assorted second hand spares, so I was going to put it on eBay but I have no idea what sort of car it is from! VW?

It says Made in Germany on the back but that's all!!

Thanks Neal

  DeLorean News Issue 87

Issue 87 has been posted out today, a jam packed issue with a huge amount of interesting articles to read. This is the third magazine this year so we are doing really well, however it all boils down to getting those articles in. The more Matt can get the easier it is to get them out (time permitting) Thanks to all who made this possible.

Classic Car Show, Glemham 6th Sept 2020
Posted by: Chris Williams - 02 Jul 2020, 06:45 - Forum: East Anglia - Replies (3)

Do you know about Classics at Glemham - the brand new car festival which launched in Suffolk last year?

Visitors praised our 2019 event for its beautiful spacious surroundings, great organisation and above-all, the relaxed, informal atmosphere. You can get a feel for the event from this brief video compilation:

As you will see, there were hundreds of classic and exotic vehicles at our first show, ranging from a 1920 Bugatti to a 2018 Carver One.

We would love to welcome members of DeLorean Owners Club on Sunday 6th September, this year. Please let us know if you are interested using the form linked below and we will send you full details.

If you have any questions , feel free to call Ian Glover on 07836 503209, or reply to this email.

We'd love to have you join us in September and look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards

Richard

  Greetings
Posted by: mattjeh - 26 Jun 2020, 12:36 - Forum: New member? Say hello :) - Replies (9)

Hello everyone. I've been in love with the DeLorean for 30 years now, I don't need to express why....you know why Wink

I had my first DMC experience in 2004 while during a trip to California I tracked down a DeLorean dealer and paid a visit. The owner was happy to show me around and I got to see and sit in one for the first time. It was the best part of my trip!

In 2009 my ever loving and supportive fiancee was happy for me to hire a DeLorean for our wedding day (Looking back on an old email folder, Chris Williams, you pointed me in the direction of Stuart Rees who was more local to me). That day was epic! I got to drive it for a very short trip around the block, have a spin around town as a passenger, got lots of photos and escorted DMC style to the Church... I also got married!

Eleven years later and owning one myself has always seemed like a pipe-dream, but I'm hopeful to bring enough money together within the next year to be able to purchase my own. Unfortunately I'm not mechanically minded in terms of dealing with the maintenance that would come with owning such a classic car, but obviously willing to learn.

It's good to be here and thanks for having me.

Pic here is taken on the morning of my wedding day. My hairline has also taken a significant hit in the last 11 years.
