  US->UK importing; tax(es)..?
Posted by: lordivanhoe - 19 Feb 2021, 15:10 - Forum: New member? Say hello :) - Replies (7)

Hi All!
Quick one, I'm sure I spotted a thread on the forum somewhere but I'm damned if I can find it.. (again)!
If importing from the US, IIRC on the import form there's some sort of box to tick that a DeLorean is a 're-import', and if you do this correctly then the only import 'tax' one gets at the UK end is a VAT charge at 5% (plus some port fees, &c).
Is that right?  I only ask 'cos I saw something elsewhere which suggested you'd pay a 5% 'import tax' and then VAT in addition.  Obviously this would make quite a difference..!
Grateful if someone could chip in with knowledge or experience.
I'm trying to make the 'man maths' add up (in theory at least, so I can get saving!) and it would be good to have all the right factors added in!!
If I'm going to try and use Excel I may's well get it right...
Cheers!
Ivan.

No signature block at present, but I see most people have one (I must work that out!) so, in text for now:
Currently Running:
'Sabrina' - Silver Royale Sabre Convertible, 3.4l V6, E1 54BRE
'Felicity' - Silver Honda Accord 2.0DTEC, FE09YYO
'The Car with No Name' - Silver Ford Mondeo Ghia 2.5Turbo, AK07URG
[Bizzarely, I've only just realised on writing that down that they're all silver!]

The title says it all really....

A friend of mine wants to make a coffee table using some genuine DeLorean Wheels.....it doesn't matter if they scuffed bent or damaged !   He will pay.  Just drop me an email, preferably with a photo and i'll take it from there.

Thanks in anticipation. I have already offered him some Pilot car wheels.... Shy

  Auto Express 10th Feb Issue

Another article for the 40th anniversary of the DeLorean, apologies it has my ugly mug in it, but none the less a reasonable article with a good plug for the club.

Hi all, just joined the club and looking forward to joining in with the community!
Not a DMC-12 owner (yet!), but certainly starting to look...
Am based near High Wycombe and hope to meet some of you if and when this wretched lockdown ends (and summer begins)!
Here's hoping for some sun and car shows this year.
Hope this note ends up in the right place..
Cheers!

Loads of early history added for 50+ VINs.
Posted by: Rich Hanlon - 10 Feb 2021, 21:00 - Forum: General Discussions on the DOC / Car / Company / JZD - Replies (3)

Hello all, I appreciate not everyone 'does' Facebook ( in fact I have only begin to use it recently, and only to a fraction of its potential.

However, a chap called Alexx Michael in the US has tracked down lots of early documents for over 50 VIN numbers, and uploaded all the documents in folders on this page:

https://www.facebook.com/DeloreanDMCNews/

Sadly nothing on there for my own ( 9 away is closest) but tons of interesting stuff. Worth a look in case yours is featured!

(I'm not going to copy them all down!!)

Couple of nice DeLorean related number plates on eBay.
Posted by: Rich Hanlon - 08 Feb 2021, 23:45 - Forum: DeLorean Cars or Parts For Sale or Wanted - Replies (1)

Spotted these. They're both very spendy but are both doubly DeLorean- related. AXI being a 1981 Belfast registration, and of course the dreaded '88' !

  Hi everyone.
Posted by: JT992 - 05 Feb 2021, 16:30 - Forum: New member? Say hello :) - Replies (8)

Hi.

I'm Jordan and it's great to be part of the club. I recently renewed my membership and have thoroughly enjoyed reading through the magazines and seeing the hard work and dedication of the owners.

I'm hoping at some point this year to purchase my first DeLorean, which is both exciting and a little daunting but I know this is the place to be for that journey.

I look forward to getting to know everyone.

Thanks.
