  Delorean ReImagined
Posted by: MrToast - 14 Feb 2022, 14:59 - Forum: General Discussions on the DOC / Car / Company / JZD - Replies (8)

Surprised there hasn't been any mention of the new Delorean EV on here yet.

Here's an Advert that's airing across the pond in LA, Miami, Dallas, San Antonio, NYC and Houston TX.

It's in partnership with ItalDesign and appears to be the DaVinci concept car below.

It's ok looking, but a far cry from the original Delorean and of no interest to me to be honest.

Of course it may never come to fruition as we've seen frequently in the past with DMCH.

What's everyone else's thoughts on it?

  Ashtray Blank cover
Posted by: lordivanhoe - 14 Feb 2022, 11:53 - Forum: DeLorean Cars or Parts For Sale or Wanted - No Replies

Hi All;

I have a mate nearby who does 3D printed parts.  He lists as '3DCadTech' on the interweb and does lots of Land Rover bits.
Anyway, as I don't smoke and potentially want to run extra wires through my centre tunnel; AND maybe mount extra switches, I gave him my ashtray and after a couple of fettling goes, he printed out a blanking plate for me.
I'm dead chuffed, the original ashtray will go into storage with all my other original bits, and now I have something I can cut and modify with carefree abandon!  And it looks neat anyway.
If anyone else wants one, he reckons he could retail them at 12.99 plus £2.60 p&p.
Not as sophisticated as the flock-lined trays available on DGo, but much cheaper!
I'll happily put anyone in touch who wants one (and can't find him online).
Now for the difficult bit, I'll try to upload a photo of mine 'in situ'...

Cheers!

  Tech Drawings
Posted by: lordivanhoe - 10 Feb 2022, 10:46 - Forum: General Discussions on the DOC / Car / Company / JZD - Replies (6)

Hello All;

Would anyone have a set of engineering / blueprint or tech drawings, by any chance?

As a matter of interest, I've been pondering on the possibilities of obtaining (for example) a spare set of wheels, and wondering whether an engineering house could actually make replicas.  I could of course take a front and back wheel off my car for them to measure, but then I'd be a bit stationary..!  And I have to confess to a bit of reluctance in case of damage in transit, etc.  But engineering drawings would be all a good manufacturer would need.
Also (as per another thread I started), the RH dash knee pad.  Surely not beyond the wit of man to have a duplicate made if originals are unavailable.
Anyway, that's where I'm going with the thought, if anyone has a set of drawings and could send me copies of bits, I'd be most grateful (and would pay any copying costs, obvs)!

Feel free to reach out for further discussion - grateful for any help/assistance/thoughts.

Cheers!

Right Hand Dashboard Knee Pad Spare?
Posted by: lordivanhoe - 02 Feb 2022, 17:23 - Forum: 8 - Frame / Body / Interior - No Replies

Hello!

Slowly working my way through various bits of Bessie and slightly upgrading where possible.. but in all cases, if I change something, making sure I can return to 'original' where possible!
With that in mind, I'd like to take off my right hand (passenger) dashboard 'knee pad'.  It's got some horrid discolouration and I'd also like to do things like mount other items to it (ie: phone holder).  But of course I don't necessarily want to drill holes in the original part!
So..
anyone got a spare they would be willing to sell to me?
I can always get my current one re-covered to solve the discolouration problem, or if someone has a one in a better condition, then problem solved..
Even better, if someone has one in more-or-less intact but otherwise terrible condition, then great, I can monkey around with it with a clear conscience!

Long story short, anyone got a spare passenger knee pad I may buy off them?

Sorry, I do drone on..

Cheers!

ps: oh yes, my interior is black, but that need not be a deal-breaker, obvs!

  Aricon Recharge
Posted by: Hardrinseron - 25 Jan 2022, 21:44 - Forum: 7 - Heating / Air Conditioning - Replies (1)

Hey Folks,

So i need to recharge my aircon before the summer and have been told the only options are R134 and RS24. I'm told RS24 is a straight swap for the original R12 whereas R134 is slightly different. From a quick look around it seems a lot of people are using R134 so i just wondered if anyone out there has used RS24 and if so what's your experience? If RS24 is a straight swap, why isnt everyone using it?

thanks!

Hi,

After many years of wanting one I finally bought my first a Delorean (quickly followed by my second, long story!). Anyway, got it from DMC Midwest back in the summer on 2021. Chris N did a bunch of work on her and she arrived early December. Just waiting for better weather to take her out.

Looking forward to meeting folks in the future!
Darren

Here are some photos if anyone is interested

Also, if any other new members want any help or advice as to how I did it, let me know

  Intermittent no crank
Posted by: Justwatching - 12 Jan 2022, 00:18 - Forum: 3 - Electrical - Replies (10)

I've got an intermittent no start-no crank situation. I say intermittent, but it's becoming regular.

I turn the key, dash lights come on, "click" but no crank. Sometimes the fuel pump doesn't prime either. It starts after a few attempts, cycling on and off. Sometimes it will suddenly start if I just hold the key in the crank position and wait for several seconds. Not sure if it's a red herring, but the tachometer sometimes gives false readings for a while after start up. Only seems to happen following the no-crank situation.

The battery is in a good state of charge and I gave the terminals a once over with wire wool, but no improvement. At this point my thinking is a switch/relay of some description, bad ground, or the starter itself (in that order). I'm still not very familiar with DeLoreans though, so inputs gratefully received.
