Was under the dash this weekend changing my indicator relay for the LED-friendly version, when I noticed the following rather 'interesting' thing; Picture attached!
To the left of my lambda unit is what I am certain is an inertia switch (black box, small red button on top). Handy little device, useful for safety in a crash..
Much less usefully, some bugger has clearly decided that safety be damned, they're going to bypass the bloody thing! No wires going into it whatsoever.
So that's interesting...!
Well, clearly I'll be very keen to plumb that back in (or replacing it and then doing so if it turns out it's busted and that's why it was bypassed [tho that still doesn't excuse such chicanery!]), so the question then is: where the hell are the wires that are supposed to plug into it?
Now, also in this photo, interestingly, one can see a 'jumper wire' which has been plugged into a small light grey connector which sits a few inches above the inertia switch. The jumper wire appears to be directly connecting a purple (maybe purple/black?) wire, from the middle of the block, to a black wire. There's also a third wire in the grey connector block, which appears to be maybe brown/white (?) which doesn't currently appear to connect to anything. Although I note that the intertia switch appears to have three spade connectors in the bottom of it.
In 'Private Eye' lingo.. Could these facts be in any way related?
I would of course be very grateful if any kind and well-informed soul can shed any useful light and/or give any useful tips on this mystery!!
Hope everyone had a good Bank Holiday. In spite of the dangers, I took Bess to a local village car show, where she was very well received!

GREAT NEWS... "Icons of the Road" is back (same location at the fantastic Manchester Airport Visitor Park) and we have a new date for your diary: June 12th 2022.
Hi Classic Owners
We, Rotary Cheadle Royal Group members based close to Manchester Airport, have for the past two years financially supported three local Food Banks and two local Hospices and the demand is still growing as is the new support we have put into place to provide aid to Ukrainian families both in the UK and abroad.
Unfortunately our funds are quickly depleted and as you can imagine any potential chances for raising much needed support funds are difficult at the best of times and our "Icons"event last year was more appealing to boat owners than car owners - it rained cats and dogs all day.
So, here we are again asking you lovely people to lend your support to our "Icons of the Road"charity event taking place on Sunday June 12th 2022 and as it's also 'Jubilee' month we are hoping for sunny weather, lots of buntings and even tea parties at the event.
Please put the date in your diary and lend us your support by bringing along your treasured 'Icons'.
I will contact you again in the next few weeks with more info and for an idea of your potential numbers attending
Many thanks in anticipation of a positive reply - we NEEEEEED YOUR HELP to raise funds for those less fortunate - Please.....
I went to one or two last year but missed the April one due to iffy weather. It just a simple turn up in the car park event but they usually get something from the Heritage collection out for a blast.
Anyway, I'm half planning on going to the next one, if anyone wants to come along. Perhaps see a few there.
We are organising a special Classic Car and Bike Festival to coincide with the Queen’s Jubilee in June. As a unique marque we would really love to have the club attend ‘Summer Classics’.
We will have dedicated ‘Club Area’s’ for vehicle, bike clubs and associations to bring together their members for a great day of car activities including an Autotest competition, a live Parade Road and a VIP Paddock area, Q&A talks, music and great food and good coffee.
The unique VIP Paddock area is a huge part of the event and to that end we are looking for ‘unique or wonderful’ cars that can be displayed within the VIP Paddock. We currently have a mixture of GT40’s, a couple of Cobra's, a rare Daimler drop head thats been fully restored, Jaguars and a Rare mini Rio Speedwell and many more.
We would really love to have any Club Members cars that you feel would be great as part of the VIP area as well as a club area on the festival site.
Some more info for you:
VIP Paddock Cars: VIP Paddock cars and their owners receive free entry to the show, a dedicated area within the VIP Paddock for their cars, VIP Access to All Areas within the Paddock and event site, free Tea and Coffee for the duration of the event and a complimentary limited addition car valeting kit courtesy of ‘Paul Martin Racing’ (RRP £40).
Parade Road: VIP Paddock cars are encouraged to take part in the two Parade Road sessions (one morning - one afternoon) to explain about their cars to the event MC as well as show their cars to the public as a ‘moving display’.
We will send all relevant info to you closer to the event as theres a lot more going on than I can write here.
Jubilee Street: At 16:00 on the day we will be turning the Parade Road into ‘Jubilee Street’ - a 300m long 'Jubilee Street Party' - we would love you to be part of the fun and if you could also pass this information on to any other car mad enthusiasts who may also be interested as we would love to have as many people as possible who are wishing to celebrate their cars with a little flag waving!
Summer Classics Marketing:
We are working with Simon Downing from Classic Car Marketing UK who is helping us market and promote the event, if you think this is something you can support and attend and have any images of club cars for Twitter, Instagram or Facebook we would love to link you to everything we push out.
As already mentioned if you feel this is something you would be able to attend please let me know.

Hoping for some advice on Dwell testing. I connected up my meter and set it to 4cyl as all the forums seem to instruct. Started the engine and it immediately said 43, so i left it for the engine to get up to temp. As it got a bit warmer it started cycling and was going from 43 down to just below 20 (lowest i saw was 16).
After a bit longer it got up to temp and fans kicked in, it seemed to settle and was consistently reading in the 40s which i think is good right?
Left it running a bit longer and it started cycling again. Again ranging from 40s down to high teens.
Can someone tell me if i did this right and should it be behaving in the way? I expected it to swing but not as low as it did.
