  New(ish) member saying Hello!
Posted by: DMC_Paul - 25 Feb 2024, 20:59 - Forum: New member? Say hello :) - Replies (15)

Hello, I’m a new(ish) DOC member - I’ve actually been a member for a while, and have followed the forum for even longer than that, but after lots of life events getting in the way I’m hoping I might soon have more time to indulge my passion for the DMC-12.

I am lucky enough to own an ‘83 registered/grey/manual, which was imported in 2019 from DMC Midwest and then restored and converted to RHD by Chris Nicholson.  I haven't had that many opportunities to use the car since it was finished, but I’m hoping to get out to a club event at some point this year to say hello in person.

Best wishes!
Paul

Classic Car & Bike Show at Whirlow Hall Farm Sheffield, 7 July 2024
Posted by: Chris Williams - 23 Feb 2024, 18:44 - Forum: Northern England - No Replies

Dear Classic Motor Enthusiast,

The Sheffield Abbeydale and Sheffield Vulcan Rotary Clubs are organising a charity Classic Car & Bike Show at Whirlow Hall Farm www.whirlowhallfarm.org on the 7th July 2024 and hopefully it will be of interest to you and your members. The Educational Trust will be the major beneficiary of funds raised on the day and the event will be part of their Summer Fayre so will attract numbers well into 4 figures. Although the Summer Fayre is one of their many annual events, this is the first time we have organised the motor show so we are expecting lots of interest and have already taken bookings.
The price of entry does include admission to the fayre so you can have a great day out and support a worthy Sheffield charity. For more details please see the attached flyer and/or visit www.rotaryclassicmotorshow.uk or to contact us, email events@vulcanrotary.org.uk.
Please feel free to forward this message on to any other individuals or clubs who you think may be interested.
Kind regards,
Stephen Walker and Jim Youens
Rotary, Abbeydale and Sheffield Vulcan

Bonjour

As spring approaches (although the weather may say otherwise), your club members may be starting to think about planning a road trip for 2024.

We hosted a number of car and bike club members in 2023 at our four-star self-catering holiday accommodation in France so are pleased to offer a discount for your members for the 2024 season to help them save a few pounds. Set in the Périgord Limousin National Park in the north Dordogne, Bonnes Routes has been specifically tailored for driving and motorcycling holidays. Our website provides full details of the facilities and activities on offer (link below).

Members using the code BRG2024 will receive a 10% discount on advertised prices.

Those getting in early who book their stay by the end of March will receive a 15% discount - this offer is exclusive to car clubs. It isn't available through any other booking platform.

We hope you enjoy some decent weather and some decent driving in the months ahead.

Best wishes.

  Automatic Transmission Governor Wanted
Posted by: sc15 - 19 Feb 2024, 17:35 - Forum: DeLorean Cars or Parts For Sale or Wanted - No Replies

The generator within my governor has failed so I am looking for either a complete governor or just the housing containing a working generator. The governor refurb services only deal with the printed circuit boards and rely on a working generator.  Hopefully there is a spare one out there!

  Automatic Governor
Posted by: sc15 - 17 Feb 2024, 15:11 - Forum: 4 - Transmission - Manual & Automatic - Replies (6)

After a tedious investigation into why 10302 won't change gear, we have found that one coil on the small generator within the governor is open circuit. The other reads approx 180 ohm and I guess they both should be the same. It doesn't look like a repairable unit.
Its a bit of a long shot but does anyone on here know if is possible to get hold of a governor? Just the casing with the generator would be fine. Any pointers gratefully received.

  Rusting Tesla Cyber Trucks
Posted by: Rissy - 16 Feb 2024, 09:05 - Forum: Off topic talk, general chat etc - No Replies

I've just been reading an article on the new Cyber Trucks from Tesla, and reports from their new owners on how their newly purchased vehicles are "rusting" on the driveway after only a few weeks on the driveway.

I couldn't help but snigger a little and thought to myself that these people could do with a training session on bodywork maintenance from us DeLorean owners.

We are also setting up a club WhatsApp group for club members, if we have an up to date mobile number then you should get an invitation to join. You don't have to and should you not get an invite then it's likely we don't have an up to date phone number! Therefore please just drop me a message.
Just to emphasize you wont get loads of spam as it's strictly for club members only.

Replacing 13 lines inc fuel Filter
Posted by: Chris Collingwood - 07 Feb 2024, 14:13 - Forum: 2 - Emission / Fuel Systems - Replies (5)

Winter hours and finally replacing all 13 Fuel lines, Injectors and spark plugs!  All going well jumped fuel pump and no leaks.  Now onto the dredded Fuel filter and struggling to disconnect from the hard fuel line.  I was hoping to fit the new updated elbow that has Copper O ring rather than ptfe.  Any tips other than WD40 or is it worth cutting the old fuel line unscrewing the old filter and not chance snapping the hard line that disappears into the Chassis.   If the hard fuel line was damaged what is the solution without taking the body off???

Thanks
Chris. VIN 2436
