Mark, whereabouts are you? If you get the kettle and bacon butties on the go I'm
sure you could rustle up a few of us to come over and give you a hand

flux3d Wrote:Yeah, just my luck. Everything was ready for the car to leave the US on Friday from New York and would you believe it a Hurricane hits! I'm hoping the car hasn't left Indiana yet (pretty sure it hasn't), but even if it hasn't I doubtful that it will be leaving on Friday considering the news.

Glad I went with marine insurance now. Seemed expensive at the time, but seems like common sense now!

Looking on the bright side if the car survives the Hurricane I might give her the nickname of Sandy. Big Grin

I had the same thing, I felt your pair and glad I took marine insurance at the time. Mine is here safe and sound so can only assume yours was? Hope you're enjoying her!

Nah Luke, the car is at present still on a ship in the Atlantic somewhere. Should be in the UK by the middle of December though. Was going to have her taken over to P J Grady for a once over, MOT stuff and lower springs added but the boiler decided to choose this moment to die on me. Looks like I'll be driving her back her and be doing the stuff myself

Cheers as well Claire, I might just do that. I do a mean bacon butty as well. Some of the best fresh bacon sold round here. Not all the pork goes into the pok pies in Melton Mowbray.

Sounds like a plan then Claire, and your welcome to pop over for a peek malcy34. It's surprising how many people will travel quite a way just to see the car. A very good friend of mine has said she's had a least three people who have asked her if they could pop over to take a look at the car as a result of mentioning I'm getting one. Two of the guys have never even met me before but are willing to come over just to take a peek!

Melton Country Park is literally a few doors up the road, so if people wanted to come over in their DeLoreans there's a nice car park, cafe and great views in spitting distance. Could be like a mini meet, lol.

If you ever want to arrange a mini meet (prob next Spring now as cars off road for winter), feel free to
post up in the events section - if you list it, we will come Wink

Has she arrived yet or still at sea somewhere? Hope she's all safe for you, it really is quite special when you drive one of these. For me it was my first and it was a joy to drive home.

should be here soon. I'm planning on driving her back from the port. Maybe a little crazy, but it'll be the first time for me as well, so can't wait. Was thinking of paying to have her low loaded back, but somehow that seemed all wrong. I want to be there when she's picked up from the dock. I want to see this car I've stressed over and paid for, saved up and dreamed of for years. Just seems right to do the first journey back to her new home with her.

Isn't that a little risky? You won't have an MOT or (valid) insurance, driving an unfamiliar LHD car...

I've sorted fully comp insurance for the car based on its VIN number and its insured as soon as it gets onto UK soil. Got full breakdown as well. Checked with the DVLA and you are allowed to drive the car back from the port home, to an MOT station, and then to and from a garage for work to be undertaken on the car in order to pass the MOT, all without a licence plate.

Know what you mean about it being an unknown LHD car, but not too different from driving a hire car just after a long drive to the states. At least I know the UK roads.

^ What he said. I was fine with no plates, drove past quite a few cops also. It's a doddle to drive them, just stick to the kerb and get convex mirrors. Smile

Enjoy her!
