I'd heard you've got to chop away at the wiring loom to fit the new DMCH switches.

Glad I didnt buy one!

Rich fixed my faulty headlight switch very easily - I wont "steal his thunder" tho, I'll let him post how to do it - or maybe do a small piece for the club mag :wink:

I like the original switch design, and I hate the idea of having to chop away at the wiring loom to fit this thing.

Like someone on DMC Help said - why couldnt they have just remade the switch the way they were? The old ones were good enough for 20 odd years, why 're-invent the wheel'?

Mind you, having already wasted over £100 (though Martin) on a DMCH 'remanufactured' fuel sender last year (which is crap), I wont be wasting any more hard earned spondoolies on their new products unless I know it will work!

I will keep you posted then Claire, as I have already placed my bet on this repro headlight switch. Fingers Crossed, this will be the last switch that requires changing on the car!

P.S. I would much prefer that the switch is made so that I don't need to turn the headlights on before I could turn all lights off: i.e. like many japanese cars, you could turn on the side lights, and turn it off without having to turn on the headlights!

Good grief, this really is a desparately simple bit of electronics. I find it mindboggling that it's taken 3 years to develop this bit of kit, and it still doesn't work properly. :roll:

If the switch is wired right it works perfectly. Cutting off the supplied connectors and joining each wire seams to solve all the weird problems people are having. I have had mine in my car now for about a month and driven maybe 120 miles with the lights on and there has not been a single problem.

It also appears that the white wire under the steering column that DMCH advises to tap into to get switched 12v is different on some cars. Mine is 12v switched while a friends car is 12v constant.
