Hi all
Bought myself a fancy Alpine powered bass box and need a ground location for it. Before I blow something up can anyone tell me a good location for a ground in the Relay box??
I have to wire the 12v connection straight to the battery and will be using the wire under the gear stick for the switched 12v but cant seem to remember where there is a ground wire around there.
Any help most appreciated.

Hi Alistair,
If you want an unused ground look in the relay compartment at the back near the firewall. There is an unused Relay base, the Hot start relay. On there is a ground, Black Wire.
Just put a spade connector on the ground wire and plug it into the relay base

Already has a wire going into it Dan, I think Paul used it as the ground for the Fog light switch I have.
I take it that it will do no harm to stick a scotch lock on the wire and splice this new one in??

Scotch Lock !!!
Another idea is that all of the metal work in the Relay compartment is Earthed so another good place is the Idle speed ECU.
Remove the screw holding it down, Eyelet Connector under it with the Earth Wire attached and put the screw back in.
But the best is to run a wire from the Relay compartment directly to the battery. Easy to do as there is plenty of room to do that.

Wanted to keep all the wiring going in one direction....
The way I have made my fake rear parcel shelf board is that it can be removed in about a minute, I am mounting the sub box onto this and then drilling a hole that the wires will run down and then go to the relay box/battery and switched 12v feed under the gear stick.
I take it the scotch lock is not a good idea?? or are they called a different name in blighty!

Use one of the 4 bolts holding the geashift mechanism down - goes straight to the chassis

I certainly wouldn't trust a scotch lock for more than a couple of amps, and a bass box is likely to draw a LOT of current. (eg 120W = 10A)
