Price Guides
#1
Hi

I'm new to the forum as I've recently started thinking about realising a boyhood dream and buying a Delorean.

I've been doing some Internet research looking for buying guides, but one thing I've been struggling to find is a price guide.

From what I've read RHD examples are pricier so I've ruled those out due to budget, but what are people's estimates for cars in the following condition:

Project ie no MOT
Poor condition but with MOT
Average
Good

Also, does mileage affect the value and by how much?

Thanks

Tom

hiya Tom

as a general rule, lower mileage cars command a higher price, but that doesnt mean they are better,
as DeLorean's can suffer from lack of use.

There is more choice Stateside for cars for sale, and plenty of us have imported cars and have written
extensively on the subject.

If you're importing from the US, factor in adding around 30% as a ball park to the price of the car to cover
things like importing, taxes, etc.

Project cars in the US start at under $10,000, but they are few and far between. You'll get something decent
for less then $20,000 in the US - over here, expect to pay around £16-20k for a running car which is useable
and needing minimal work, £20k plus will get you a good LHD. There aren't a lot of project cars in the UK, so
you'll probably have to search the US. On Facebook, Florida based Chris Burns has set up a 'DeLoreans for Sale'
page, which is worth checking out.

All as what Claire wrote really, this is in my opinion a good car and very keenly priced due to having a fault that should not cost a lot to fix: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/321187554627? ... 102wt_1328
