Squeaky steering rack?
#1
The steering rack, or something at the front of the car seems to be making a fair amount of noise, squeaking every time I move it or turn the wheel. Seems to have gotten a lot worse in the hot weather. I'm thinking of popping the inspection hatch above the rack and taking a peak, but question is what should I use to lube any squeaking areas? Will normal grease work? Maybe blast it with some silicone spray? I have some red grease I've used on my bike, would this be ok to use on the steering rack, or is there a specific product that should be used?

Have a look at the track rod ends. Maybe a squirt of that silicone spray would be worth a try.

When you say turn the wheel, does is squeak when the car moves or only when the steering wheel is turned and the car is stationary? I had a squeak when only turning the steering wheel and it was a dry steering column bush...
