Hi
#1
Hi guys. Just thought i'd be decent and drop a line here to say hello. I'm a huge fan of Deloreans but currently have an MR2 Turbo running 400+bhp. I've always been a fan of the Delorean, but i'm also a huge BTTF fan so that helps greatly Smile

I've been considering getting a Delorean for a while now but with recent events and wanting to move house I have unfortunately had to put this aside. I'd love to try keep the MR2 and get a Delorean for converting to a Time Machine slowly, but I think realistically I can only have the one two seater (the mrs already hates the two seat jobby  ).

Anyway, just thought I'd be polite. No doubt you will see a few posts here and there and maybe a few "HEEEEEEELP" posts next year if I decide to go down the loooooong road of building a BTTF car Smile

If you read this Mike, hope all's ok. The conversion still going well?

hiya, welcome to the DOC-UK Smile

Your MR2 sounds a beast, I drove a Mk2 version once (standard), and that was lovely, which version have you got?

Feel free to ask lots of questions, we're always happy to help! Big Grin

Hi Claire,

She's a MK2, the best model  . They both have their pros, standard feels tight and smooth, this thing is just balastic and the more I drive it, kind of agree with everyone that has been in it...it shouldn't be road legal on boost . You've just got to be sensible, and I guess I wouldn't still be here having had the car since 18 if I wasn't. In safe track conditions, a 911 GT3 and Audi R8 simply couldn't stay with the 'ol K Reg Toyota once 3rd gear comes up and that 3076 spools up

A few figures here if you're interested (If not, ignore the waffle and scroll for pics Tongue )

400hp
365fp/tq
8.5k rev limit
~1200kg

Here's a few pics when it was in MR2Only magazine:

Apart from the engine and boot (or, lack of.. ) it's standard. I decided to not strip it and kept the dash and original interior etc.

As I say, I think next year is realistically when I have a better chance of getting a Delorean, but it will be cool to keep an eye on the forums and have a look through the previous posts to see what i'm getting myself in for in the meantime Smile I might have to nip along to one of the meets at some point.

OMG *drools* that MR2 is lush mate, I can see why you are so proud of it - I was lucky enough to
drive an Audi R8 a couple of weeks ago round Rockingham raceway, thats the quickest thing I've ever
driven, and if you're MR2 is quicker then that.... Shock Shock Shock

Not sure where you are based, but if you're ever in the East Midlands, feel free to swing by ours, we've
got 2 cars here, one of which (mine) came off Ebay in 2002 as a spares or repairs project in San Diego -
we'll take you out for a run in one of our cars and also let you have a good look round all the oily bits so
you can familiarise yourself better with the mechanicals.

There are various options for making a De go fast, but you have to remember its a 30yr old car, designed
and engineered between 1974-1980, so there will be limitations, but there are people on here like Martin G
who've been working on and developing the PRV for several years now, and can advise on the best ways
of getting a good blend of performance and handling.

Sorry about the delay, I completely forgot to reply!

Thanks, she really is an animal 8) You around Derby? It's like a 2hour+ drive over that way so it would cost me about a grand in this thing to get over there, especially on boost

If you lot are ever over this way give me a shout and i'll tag along. I know that the last knightcon was only around the corner from me at XScape Castleford so will be attending this year for sure.

Audi R8 is a great car though without a doubt, the V10 version should have been there since the start though in my opinion, the V8 was more of a poser.

Knightcon was such a laugh this year, we're deffo doing it again next year.

We're near J27 of the M1, about 15 miles north of Derby.

If those 6 numbers ever come up, I'll be down the Audi showroom the minute
that cheque clears lol Smile
