Air Con
#1
Has anyone successfully re charged their own aircon? i had a conversation with a guy who sells the cans of coolant on ebay and he seemed to give quite vague instruction no gauges etc which is obviously no good. getting damn hot here now and its in need of some cool air.

any info would be great guys.

Pay someone who knows what they're doing to do it properly. It's an old CFC-based R12 system. Steer clear of places who say they'll "convert" the system to use the modern gas. This will cost more than re-charging it with ozone-friendly drop-in R12 replacement, but most places don't stock the stuff and won't invest in a bottle of it just to do one car. Any AC place which takes on classics will have it. Just ask the question "do you do drop-in R12 gas?"

R12 replacement comes in several different names

RS24
R416
R413a (not to be confused with R134a which is the regular modern stuff)

...are the ones I know of.
