Opinions?

Hello all,

I am tentatively looking at this -->

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... MEWAX%3AIT

...to ship to the UK. Its near Sacramento. Clearly quite far from perfect, but I was hoping that it may form the basis of a good car. I am most concerend about the (mild) steelwork, and suspension.

Interior bugs, while I know are expensive, are relatively trivial to me. It also appears to have marks on the stainless: ?dent on the front right wing, and something going on behind the rear wheels- someone been at it with the scotchbrite?!

My main question concerns the need for a windscreen. Available? Horrifically expensive?? Also, can the front fascia be repaired and repainted, or are eyebrows a terminal disfigurement?!

Window motors/ regulators- pig of a job??

Any insight, advice or comments appreciated. To my untrained eye, this price appears something approaching reasonable for a slightly scruffy running car... Am I a naive buffoon? Thanks,

andy

ps. As the car runs and brakes, am considering RO-RO using TransGlobal Shipping. Perhaps this should be the topic of another post-will search first!

I got a new windscreen last year (and also in 2004) on my insurance. Autoglass get them from Uroglass in Bromsgrove, and you can order one with or without the windscreen antenna depening on what vin you have.

Good luck with the purchase! Smile

Not a bad price, you just have to be realistic and remember you are buying a 30 year old car! It will have some faults, most are not to difficult or expensive to put right. New facias are available or you can fix your old one up by inserting small metal flat bar under the 'eyebrow'

Thanks all,

much appreciated. Will keep you posted...!

Good to know about the eyebrow repair- I had a quick look at parts prices on US sites... steep enough to allow me to attempt repair!

I got a new front facia from Dave Howarth in the club. It was about five yeras ago but IIRC was les than £250 delivered. Most normal day to day parts are available over in the UK.
