I am so pleased with TomTom!!!
#1
I can't believe the range of maps TomTom offers now!!

I just got maps of Hong Kong installed in my TomTom One and it works!!! The only turn down is that HK doesn't use post code, so input of road names is required.

If any of you TomTom owners will go to HK in the future, you know who to shout at

From a happy TomTom owner

Yep, I got it on my works and personal smart phones.
I got all my clients locations in separate POI's. Very nifty.

Hehe, It's great isn't it? Have you got the speed camera database installed too? It's quite handy sometimes!

Oh... and now we can travel down to Norfolk without trouble from my dodgy Palm navigation then

The most amazing scene was when the Palm saids "Turn left"/ "make a U turn when possible" when we were actually on a single way bridge!

I will PM you about the speedy cam stuff

Tom Tom is better than "Mrs T with a map" navigation.

She doesn't tell me which direction to take, but she tells me "ooh you should have turned left back there" and pointing to the right.

janvdwouw Wrote:Just don't take them into Switzerland...

As of 10 january 2007 GPS Navigation capable of showing
locations of speedtraps are forbidden there. This includes the
TomTom, as you can get POI-lists, listing these locations...

If you do get caught with one they take it in to destroy AND you get fined...
I know it sounds stupid, but I read this this morning on a site about trafficcontrols...

I have read that this applies in France also.

Thats a bit cheeky then isn't it. Selling you a Sat nav that is illegal to use in most of Europe. I'm still gonna take mine to Le-mann. Just have to sucker it to something a bit lower down from the windscreen thats all. Last year we went with sat nav and radar detector. We didn't get caught but i was chatting to some chaps from Holland and they said one of their friends had his car impounded for having a radar detector. Cost him $1000 and a night in the cells to get his car back. Still if you drive a Viper you can afford $1000 fine.

Beltronics does a stealth version of the X50, I remember seeing it somewhere.

The sensor part and the control buttons are separate modules. And since the sensors are placed outside the windscreen, the reception for the radar signals were far better too!

I guess that's the only option for locals of these countries which radar detectors are not legal.
