Cheers all Big Grin

We took Flopsy and Sorbet out today for a quick run down to Heanor to see
RichH - I think I might have to make sure my 'Nicholsoned' dashboard
and binnacle are secure... It was a gorgeous day up here today
and she was certainly gleaming in the sunshine. Cue 'surgical smile' Big Grin

Nick, I'll sort out those injectors for Wednesday night when we meet up for
a pint - we've noticed that the car is 'popping' when the throttle is backed
off too....

No probs. You prob have throttle plates that don't have the poppet valves. I'll compensate for that during the tune up. I'll make a check list!

Exactly Tony Big Grin They are more like little spring loaded valves. When the throttle is shut and the engine revs are high, they let extra air in to smooth the revs down and decrease emissions.

Book setting is to set the throttle shut (but just not catching) and set idle using air bypass. You can compensate for it by setting the throttle plates slightly open. Usually set idle control valve shut and set idle to 2/3 of specified ie about 600rpm. Once done, set as per ECU control.

When I do Flopsys I will get Claire to do some pics.

lol  NickT, mebbe this would be a good one to write up for the
Technical part of the mag? Smile

Whilst I know that many of you are aware of what Flopsy was like 5+ years ago when I got her, and the work that has been done over time, some of you will not know what state she was in all that time ago.

So, as promised, here are some 'before and after' pics Smile

These few piccies do not do justice to the amount of work that Chris and Darren have put in to the car over the last few months - and there were so many things wrong with Flopsy, not just cosmetically, that it would take me an eternity to detail them all here. Suffice to say, as well as the car looking fab, I no longer have the awful clanging noise from the front suspension on full lock Big Grin

I'm just terrified of scratching her now on the bushes on the lane up to our cottage Shock

I think this car should now be called Hotsey!

So, besides tweaking Flopsey's tuning what is else is planned for her next?

lol  well, I still need to tidy up the chassis where the brake
fluid leaked onto it (when it was still in the US), I need new window
motors and the central locking fixing, I need to replace my coil cover
that went missing a couple of years ago, I'd like to recover my headliners and
t-panel, erm.... new alternator, LPG Conversion..... I'm sure I'll find things to keep
me amused! Cant have a perfect car, that would be too boring! lol

Yeah! Flospy is back! What a lovely state she is in now!

BTW... how many of us wants a new alternator? Maybe we could arrange a "up north" group buy of the SpecialTAuto alternator to share some postage?
Kind Regards,

Whats wrong with your alternator? You just want a more beefy one or you keep running the battery down?

hey John, well if your old one works then I'll have it off you Big Grin

Flopsy's was supposedly rebuilt in 2004, but its getting worse and worse again, it makes a hell of a row and the needle is showing about 10volts when I'm driving - I think it should be at 13 - is that right Nick?
