I'm new to Flickr, so still trying to fathom my way round it at the moment Dan.

I'll agree, if the car was mint, I'd feel guilty breaking it, but with this one I've got no such concerns, especially now that the steering rack is confirmed as bent, there's no way this car should be on the road any longer then is really necessary.

I'm going to measure the seats to see how they compare to the De, they also slide electrically when you tip them forwards, which is a nice touch.  Obviously I'd keep my original De seats in case I ever wanted to put them back in - I'm never going to sell this car, so I'm doing everything on it for me, not a potential buyer.  I've had this car 15yrs now, I couldn't inflict her on my worst enemy lol Wink

Peugeot seats inc bases with the electric gubbins, 22 inches wide.

DeLorean seats, 19 inches wide (between centre console and the handbrake).

Bugger.

Any plans for engine mounts at this stage? For PRV is was quite easy...

Visually, its a shed, so I've no qualms about scrapping it.  The engine runs really nicely, and boy is it quick when you squirt the accelerator!  It does however have a problem with the steering rack, which was probably caused during the front and rear end damage it sustained in 2014.
Its done 112,000 miles, service records and bits of history with it up to 96000.  Last two owners were in the same family.

The battered bodywork....its clear the car has been hit front and back, the NSF alloy has a big chunk out of it and the NSF wing is full of filler and has been 'painted' with a rattle can (not visible in these photos, but I'll put some more up later for full comedy effect.

Hi all,

Had one of our petrol head mates round today with his new girlfriend (he's got a TVR 350i and a V8 Land Rover 90 amongst his toys, she's got an MX-5 and has normally got engines in bits uprating things too), and he had a drive of the Pug today, and thinks it'll be an awesome lump in the DeLorean.

Rachel and I were deep in discussion in the DeLorean engine bay as she is really keen to help with any spannering, including getting the frame and body separated, whilst Phill & Bob discussed man caves lol.

Over the coming weeks, the plan is to make room in a garage we rent for all the Peugeot bits that are sellable, so we can start stripping it and get rid of the shell.  I think, personally, its gonna be early next year before we are in a position to start taking the DeLorean to bits - we still need to finish the garage first and make it watertight, which is our priority right now.

how is your swap going ? I contacted Phil on messenger as I found some guy in Germany that is in the middle of process of putting L7X into DeLorean. He did few Alpines on L7X and turbos, so he knows what he is doing.
He already made adapter for gearbox, so I can get 2 from him if you guys are interested (I've send photos to Phil via messenger).
He told me that he had to move engine mounts back about 10cm and move oil filter to different place.

That's really interesting, the only thing I don't like is the welding of new brackets on the frame. That's the one thing I (personally) don't like the fact that you have to make frame changes to accommodate this engine. Does the sump have to be altered at all?

I bet you can always make bolt on adapters for engine mounts, but for durability it is better to weld them.
I will ask about sump, but so far it was only mentioned that oil filter required relocation when it comes to lubrication system.

You took the words out my mouth. 

  I did same 40 years ago when I fitted a 1970's 'B Series' 1800cc BMC engine and gearbox, into a 1935 Morris 10.4.

Phill has found a guy in Manchester who's got a spare L7X - UN1 adaptor plate, and he's been talking to him this week.

Interesting that a guy in Germany is doing the same job as us, makes you wonder if these PRV's are failing quicker then we thought.

We've been doing some rough measuring, and the sump should clear ok, but its interesting to know about adapting the oil filter and engine mounts.

Ah well, no one said it would be easy!! lol

How do you relocate an oil filter? Surely its an integral part of the engine casing?
BTW, Phill cant find any messages from you on messenger, what name would they come up under?

We're off to Manchester this weekend to see the guy who's done an L7X - UN1 conversion (not in a DeLorean) and has a spare
adaptor plate and see how it all goes together, take measurements, etc. We're gonna go up in the Avantime, which has the
235hp version of the engine - apparently the engine in the Clio V6 (255hp), was actually tuned up to 280hp by TWR originally!

Obviously that's a massive hike in HP in a DeLorean, and if anyone was to contemplate that, you'd need to do a massive overhaul
on the brakes, suspension, etc.

I'll also put a new clutch in my car 'whilst we're in there'.

Anyway, work is a long way off starting, so I'm sure you'll be well ahead of us when it comes to getting around to my car.

Any photos and measurements are welcome Smile I had no response from Germany unfortunately.
I will make engine mounts brackets myself, but first Ii need to sort out that adapter for transmission. I would appreciate your help with getting drawing or CAD file for it. From what Phil told me, you also have to skim trans housing to compensate for thickness of adapter. I will speak with guys from work, to see what can be done to offset clutch and flywheel to not touch transmission. It will however require different adapter plate in such case. I not decided yet which route to go. Need to study options. Looking forward for news from you!

if we can sort something out, we might be heading over to see the guy in Manchester on Sunday, so as soon as we can
get any more information, we'll let you know - either on here, or Phill will contact you on Messenger.
as an update folks, we met the guy in Glossop the other week, who was really helpful.

We got his spare adaptor plate, and also his blue prints, which with the help of Rich H have
had all the measurements checked and made into a CAD file.

I will report back as further progress is made.
