Thanks for the offer of the pics, i might just take you up on those.... i'm quite interested in the history of Lex, and I hear that Martin has some interesting photos of her too. I think i'll have to get in touch with him pretty soon. I need to ask him a couple of questions relating to what has been done to the car already i.e. TAB's replacement etc.

Thanks for the info on this PhotoBucket thingy, hopefully it has worked and you can all see a few pics from the day I picked up Lex from J.F last week. I'm the one in the black t-shirt. Here goes:

I'll get some more photos up in the near future for everyone, a bit closer up and also for some advice from people.

Pretty devastating time for URR 686.

Only driven it twice, have attempted to replace the temp sensor and due to a strange adapter being fitted somewhere down the line (as a result of someone stuffing the thread in the engine no doubt) the old sensor proved difficult to get out (the thread in it was completely spannered). Tried to remove the adapter and it sheared off the engine.

Big hole, no means of fixing it, cant drive it and 22k lighter in the pocket. No garage around me will touch it. I'm completely spannered have no time and no money. Feely pretty crap at the moment.

But as the Great TT wrote
Find a good garage (old style owner who knows what there doing) and it should be a low cost repair.

The only other way i can think of is, make a plate up with 2 holes each end, then drill and tap out (m6 will be ok) head, smarm the plate up and bolt it down, then move sensor somewhere else Ie on a t-piece 32-16-32 and put in line with main radiator pipe and jubilee the sensor on, but make sure you earth to the block TT
