hello

Has anyone got a full set of UK headlights they can sell me? I'm after both the inners and outers (pref not the halo inners :? )

I've asked around, all for naught. Sad

cheers.

Dave.
Hiya,

As far as I can recall, you can keep the standard inners, as they act as your main beam/flash, but any half decent motor factors should be able to supply you with 6x4 headlamps for the outers. I *think* Flopsy's were about £60 a pair from Wheels Motor Factors at The Hyde in Stevenage (near where I used to live). I used to have standard inners, but the halo's were fitted in late 2003.

AFAIK they also match up to an Audi. However, one thing I noticed, is that the Ford Probe we had (now in Mike H's care) had very DeLorean-esque headlights, so it might be worth ringing a Ford breakers/parts specialist/check ebay and see if you can get a pair of Ford Probe headlights. I might have a piccy somewhere of the Probe with its headlights up and you'll see what I mean about them looking very similar.

If not, Dan Shane might be able to advise on a good UK supplier of brand new units - Dan?

Cheers,
The can be hard to get hold of, and some need the headlight 'bucket' to be cut for them to fit. The Valeo units fit the best with no modification needed. Dave H has supplied the Valeo ones for years but he was having a hard time locating any of late.

I brought the inner lights from DMCH for less than $10 from memory..try Ed Uding.
hello you.

Thanks for the advice. [Image: 050.gif]

you've given me more options, thanks guys.

I'll have another scoot through ebay and google to see if I can find the outers Smile

I'll have to install a new bulb and wire the inners up to give the side light function, though, won't I? I haven't taken them out yet to see what's behind as the rest of car is in bits across two rooms ATM and don't want to further over-strech myself (you know what I mean)Sad.

Audi, eh - any idea what model ? Shock Smile

thanks again
errr..........I think it was the early 80's 80 or 100 model, but cant remember to be sure........

Phill seems to think the back of the Probe lights may be different, but I guess the only way is to get one and compare it. A Probe headlight maybe easier to get hold of then one from a 25yr old Audi.....

I did give MikeH a spare headlamp for the Probe at Eurotech, so I'm sure if you contact him he can photograph the back of it and send it to you to see if its the same.

Here is the Probe headlight 'in-situ' if it helps

Cheers,
valeos should be ok to get hold of.

i rang valeo themselves for uk disitributors. midwest motor factors or brown brothers in Wolverhampton.

i needed new buckets etc, as mine were bad. not even recoverable.

so what turned out from 2 new lights only became front bumber removed, front hood removed, front spoiler, grille, washer bottle (a pig), new light buckets and framework, bonnet brackets disintegrated, and at the time recoated the front bumper support and repaired the mouse eaten wiring!.

the valeos fit fine in the exisitng bucket but had a bit of trouble with the side light built into the bucket, and the rear rubber seal.

then removed the existing orange on side light function from the front indicators

so in summary hopefull just two valeo units required, about £25 ish each
Unfortunately the probe headlights wont fit - by 1/2"

They are 6" x 4", whereas the DeLorean headlights are 6.5" x 4"

Aparently it was an early Audi coupe....
Loads of American cars of the time used the same lights so enquring with the UK Camaro club (if there is one) might lead to a good UK supplier?
The Headlights DMCL used were Hella Units.

There Part Number is 1LB003177511

Any Hella Dealer can get these, there off of Audi Coupes and OLD VW Scirocco's.

To use the side lights then a small hole has to be made in the light buckets, but it's easy to do.

If you need a Dealer try South East Auto's in Maidstone. There Number is 01622 690004. In face they have two in stock when I called them today Big Grin

Dan,
Any idea where the 'halos' were sourced from and a part number, for all of us that are running them and may need replacements?
Cheers
Chris
I think they originally came from Summit Racing in the US - but not sure about later stocks or what they cost now.

Here's Flopsy posing with the original halo's back in 2003:

Halos... Yummy !

Oh hang on... i have some of those on my car completely forgot Wink lol
The Halos did indeed come from Summit Racing in the US.

They were made by a manufacture called Matrix. However they stopped making them with bulbs and started using LED's glued into the units.

The problem with these is that the light has a Blue Tint and looks awful with normal H4 Bulbs and some MOT stations and some Old Bill dont like them as it's a Blue light not a White light !!

Infact they are a really cheap looking item now and as such I wouldn't bother getting them again.

Dan
Hi All

The Hella headlights were a cross reference that I found many moons ago for Claire's car back when it was Dave's. They're available from any Hella dealer although the ones on the shelf at South East Autos when Dan rang them were in fact on order for me and are now in my workshop.

The bulb style halos are no longer available but the LED versions are perfectly legal and I have three pairs on the shelf - still a good seller.
