Yes, I can answer this as I just paid mine.
The VAT was 5% of the purchase price of the vehicle plus 5% of the shipping cost
The duty was zero rated I believe because the car was originally manufactured in the UK.
To ensure that you get these lower rates you should get your vehicle importer to make sure that they submit the necessary forms to HMRC before or at least whilst the vehicle is in transit.

Mine came from Chicago. This is what I paid in June 2014 for door to door shipping to Essex:
