I'm looking forward to seeing it tonight! Nice one for all those who got involved, it really is great to see these cars get the attention they deserve.
As for valuations, let's just say I'll explain all on the show I was on, once it has aired. A certain individual tried to ruin it.. :roll: His actions actually did me great favours in the end and didn't work out so well for himself!
I must say I watched it and grimaced at certain parts-the 'faulty door' which could of cost fasands to repair needed only a new strut, the door smashing down was definitely played-notice the small black window frame had been removed to facilitate the window smashing-overall the car wasn't bad at all, engine and box needed no work only servicing, brakes needed cleaning and refurbing as you would with any car that's stood for a number of years, the wing could have been sorted by a decent panel beater,and as for the farting around with the bleeding Jeep radiator the car would have run fine with the original recored (yes,it can be done, Mario)on the scale of things,the car needed little doing to it ie no major bodywork repair,no major mechanical bits or trim costing fasands.
The mechanics weren't overly in awe of the DMC and as such I don't think they really did their best on the car, but it's only a tv programme for entertainment and can't be taken seriously in my view, but as said, any publicity is good either way and the car was undervalued.
Looking forward to the proper restoration programme FTLOC this weekend, they are good in their method and approach to fixing up old cars( I bet they wouldn't put a 80s tilting glass sunroof in place of a Webasto folding one in a classic 60s E type) but when you do find a DMC barn find, it seems they don't need too much work to get them decent and roadworthy! :lol:
I too saw this programme, what's the reason behind the 13k valuation? Is it a dog or do I need a lower amount than i thought to secure myself a delorean?
I think the valuation was in Canadian Dollars and then converted straight to pounds. This is the wrong way to do it.
Typically, to get a roadworthy example with lots of space for some personalisation and fixing up to do yourself, then in the UK, £17k-£18k. Cars with mods and improvements upon basic road worthiness goes up at a steady rate after that. Typically now, for a decent example with most work done, you're looking at £20k to £24k. Spankers and concours are above this amount again. RHD, add about £10k on to the condition based value if it had been a LHD.

I think Chris (Rissy) sums it up perfectly, there have been some cheaper cars been sold in the UK in the last month. These two on Pistonheads have been bought by new club members:

one at 15.5k and one at 17.5k so they do seem to be cropping up, perhaps Pistonheads website is one to start watching?
