After a washout in 2012 the Letchworth Garden City Classic & Vintage Car Club is determined that its 2013 Annual Transport
Picnic on Saturday 8th June 2013 will be a roaring success. To this end they are inviting car clubs and individual classic car owners
to join them for a quintessentially English afternoon in the glorious countryside at Halls Green, near Weston, in North
Hertfordshire. The public will be welcome to come and view a superbly interesting display of vehicles.
The event started in 2009 to celebrate the 21st birthday of the multi?marque club and was so well received that it ran again in
the following two years. 2012 promised to be the biggest event to date with well over 250 cars scheduled to attend but
unfortunately, as with so many shows that year, waterlogged ground put paid to the day. Such was the disappointment among
regular attendees that they are eagerly anticipating the 2013 Picnic which is already shaping up to be a bumper event.
A mouth?watering collection of classic, vintage, and modern thoroughbred vehicles from a wide range of manufacturers is
expected and visitors will see the likes of Maserati, Ferrari and Porsche rubbing shoulders with Austin, Triumph and Hillman
while Bentley and Rolls Royce tower over Morgan and Marcos. Vintage bicycles, racing Lotus’, and selected trade stalls will be on
display while a 1950’s rock and roll band entertains the visitors. Children will be kept busy with bouncy castles and slides, a
gentle and good?humoured driving gymkhana will test the skills of entrants, and the Tea Tent will be open for traditional cream
teas.
Organising committee chairman David Davis said: ‘The Picnic is about quality and style and we shall be delighted to welcome old
friends and new to what should be a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. Bring your classic vehicle and your picnic and have a
wonderful time mixing with like?minded people in a beautiful location. If any club would like to reserve a group space for the day
they are very welcome to contact us in advance and we will accommodate them’
The Picnic takes place at Fairclough Hall Farm, Halls Green, Weston, Herts, SG4 7DP. £5 per vehicle on the gate. Pedestrians £2.
Gates open at 11am and the event ends at 5pm.
