I would like to have a go at servicing 510 as the dizzy and leads looks a little worse for their age, I have ordered the same from the shop, could you please give me some advice on the following:

1. Spark Plugs - which make and type

2. How do I get to the distributer plugs and leads to change. It looks a pig to get access to, what do I need to remove and how.

3. While doing this should I clean the injectors and if so how do I fetch them out.

Many thanks Stephen.
Hiya Stephen,

tbh, if the injectors are working fine, then I'd leave well alone, they can
be a bit sensitive

I took the parts x-ref from the forum to my local motor factors when I
serviced Flopsy, and I bought Bosch spark plugs.

The dizzy is a sod to get to, and there's not really alot you can remove to
improve access unfortunately. If you're vertically challenged like me, sometimes
a stool or something to stand on can be useful in helping to reach the back of the
engine bay and to be able to try and see what you're doing.

I'm sure Martin or someone else will also have some helpful hints and tips here too.
I found un bolting the fuel distributor bolts and 'carefully' lifting the fuel metering head you can get to the dizzy a lot easier. Though probably just as easy to remove it completly and re-fit with new copper washers. I would go with Claire if the the fuelling is not way out then leave the injectors alone.
