The air conditioning in my car works great. But when i adjust the settings to get some heating on, i only get cold air. Where do i start on this one. Could i have a component missing somewhere along the line?

It'll be a stuck heater valve at the front of the engine. Look at the left/front corner of your engine bay and you'll see a small shiny black pipe coming out of the wall. Follow that to the heater control valve. It'll probably be all rusted up. Pull on its little lever and force it open
