i would say you would have to budget upto 15k to get back to standard.i do like the low vin though.

as far as i am aware, all production cars had the front logo didn't they?
Bit of a sorry state for sure! That seller really needs to sort out his listing! Very bad communication! The mileage changes twice - although easy typo mistake to make if you're half asleep but he should have at least proof read it all! Id be apprehensive about buying this car. :?
Shame to see cars in such a poor condition!

According to my paperwork, #701 was never a test car. It was a company car, but for someone who I've not heard of.

It's probably worth about £3-4k - which would still set you back around £1750 to ship to the UK.

As is obvious from the pictures - bodywork and interior is shot. What's not clear from the pictures is the engine, frame, etc....and expect to replace brakes, fuel system, etc.

Not a good car unless you can do lots of labour yourself, and have an overall budget of £15k+.

If it was #700, I wold have bought it straight away - that was a test car.

i bid $6k. still outbid. reserve not met. you can tell the guy/girl who's selling it wants like $15k for it.

absolute crap job on stripping the paint. why would you strip the paint with the panels still on the car?

When I was over there in august everyone I spoke too couldn't stand him.

We also have Gordon Brown and I don't know anyone who likes him
It looks like a pile of poo to me. I have seen better cars bought for 3K dollars.
I think its really sad that the cars we all love, one of them has ended up in this condition, with an 'owner' who clearly just doesn't know the details and is just clearly greedy, going by the reserve price - high as Barson has said.

According to the massive PDF file with all the vin numbers listed, it was a company car, then it was a rental car (?), then it was returned to a dealer... so im guessing it was then sold on? :?
Its certainly a real shame to see a car in that state Cry I just hope whoever wins it, restores it properly, hopefully to the standard of Darren's D Big Grin

Not all of them, as Darren said it is most likely a company car which never left the factory, so it did not need the logo on it. Might be the one that I done my test in.

Still would not pay that money for it.

that car really is in shocking condition - I only paid $4500 for Flopsy back in
2002 (£2860 at the time), and although she was a wreck, she was not as
bad looking as that poor thing is.

I just noticed this post.

I was the lucky guy who bought this car back in 2010.
It took me 4 years of work, to rebuild it from scratch.

Good work there…4 years…thats a long time!

Has it still got its original Engine? It should be 418.

According to the company records and it was built between 25th Feb and 2nd March 81. Then (unusually) Air Freighted into the USA on 17th July 1981. It was probably used for some sort of testing, either in the UK or USA, but I have no records of that.
Yes, everything is original, including engine.
It was slow, as we had problems with the negine.
I m sorry now that I didn t buy the new stage 2 engine...

I know it was a company car, after went to leasing company.
The rest is unknown.
I bought it from Florida.
