I have had some help from guys in the USA to track the number of owners while my VIN # 2572 was over there (Dec. 1994 to Nov. 2004).
The first owner was someone in England as is stated in the DOD list.
Is there an equivalent of the - USA - Carfax service in England that could help tracking the number of owners, if more than one, between 1981 and 1994?

No, I haven't. As far as I know I have the info on owners after 2004. I need info from the period of 1981 up to 2004.

You could try writing to the DVLA which is the British vehicle licencing
authority:
Vehicles Customer Services
DVLA
Swansea
Wales
SA99 1AL
They will need the full chassis number and its UK registration number and
they should be able to send you copies of the old V5's (registration documents)
from when the car was in Britain.
If it was first registered in Northern Ireland, then you'll have to contact
DVLNI, which is their equivalent.
I have, in the past, obtained DVLA records for cars I've owned. DVLA normally
charge a fee, but as you are based in Europe you may not have to pay.
Also, if you PM me your car's full chassis number, there is a check I can
do online with another UK agency which will add to the information.
