Hi folks

Well I was nearly not going to be at Eurotec this year in my car......

I was parked up at a petrol station last night talking with a mate on the mobile when I smelt smoke coming from under the car, jumping out I noticed a newspaper had be blown by the wind under my car and got stuck on the drivers side manifold! It was pretty much totally ablaze and I just about managed to put it out with my mini extinguisher before it started melting things.

There was not much damage, the o2 sensor wire melted a bit but I fixed that today, there was white powder everywhere in the engine bay and all over the car so that was all washed off today aswell, I am still shaking!!

I dread to think what would have happened if I had not had a fire extinguisher handy.

Just as well you had the quick instinct too Alistair. If it had caught on to some fuel, or flammable substance, it could have been much worse.

Glad you managed to put it out quickly, and that it's done minimal damage.

It just shows how easily these things can happen I guess!
