One of the old factory bullet-ins says that DMC had 3 cars test painted as part of the development programme for painted cars.

It's safe to assume that these weren't painted at the factory at there was no paint shop set up. It's also not known what VINs these cars were or whether they were eventually sold with painted panels or stainless panels.

OK. To be honest I wouldn'y of thought that any cars would have left the factory painted anyway. It was JZD's wish for them not to be.

Thanks.

Hi Phil... is this the info you are refering to?

I agree that these were not painted at the factory but by the 3 companies involved in the test painting of these cars... so it could be these vehicles are still out there ....somewhere ....

Thats right, The only painting done was by Joe Murray. So he has said in the past.
Not to dishearten owners who have painted their cars, but I believe that the D' looks better in original non painted form.

I prefer unmolested cars.
I believe paint would have been a factory option before too long. Along with an expanded range of interior trim colours and the twin turbo engine.
I suppose that the D' was in fact JZD's dream, and people want to expand on it. It's upto the person.
I supose the posibility of painted cars but pressed in steel for the tight gits  like me  TT
