Dear All,

discussions were had at the NEC about what to do about an event for 2017, taking into account the Club's commitment in 2009 to move the annual meet up around the country to make it fair on all members to have a chance to get to an event near them - back then, the national meet up, which always happened in the same place, was often a PITA for folks from further afield to get to, so that's why the decision was made to have an national event in a different part of the country each year where possible. So far, we've been to Shropshire, Derbyshire, North Yorkshire, Dorset, Northants/Bucks and Norfolk.

For 2017, the idea had been muted to combine a national event with an established car show or gathering. Mike Hutchinson, who has connections in the TV/Film car business, suggested we join in with the big TV/Film car meet up in Blackpool in August 2017. There seemed to be a great deal of enthusiasm for this event, which will also celebrate 35yrs of Knight Rider. An idea was suggested to do something round St Anne's on the Saturday, the Saturday evening descend on Blackpool's 'Golden Mile' and parade the cars up and down, have a fish n chip supper, and then the rest of the evening is free to spend how you wish. On the Sunday, there will be the main car meet itself, with DeLorean's, KITT's, Trotter Van's, Starsky & Hutch cars, etc etc.

All in all, I reckon it'll be a fun weekend, although Mike did say that Blackpool is unbelievably tacky, but meh, who cares, its all about getting together and having a good laugh.

Mike will be adding more to this thread in due course as dates are known, myself and Mary Hooper will also be assisting with sorting out the event, although I will be taking more of a back seat this time round, as I've got too much here to sort out, including building work and the small matter of a dead engine in my own DeLorean.

So everyone, get behind Mike on this one, put on your best 'Kiss me Quick' hat, and lets make Blackpool 2017 a great success !

I'm starting proceedings for the Tatton Park Classic Show this August...

As with last year, this is a two day event in which participants can attend both or either of the day's. I will need to know which day(s) you plan to attend to arrange for a big enough club space. Despite the problems we had in getting our stand, we won another Club Stand award and they are keen for us to attend again.

The show has a huge auto jumble and attracts 100's of different cars and visitors every year. Tatton Park is situated just south of Manchester not far from the M6.
Woodvale (its regular venue) due to asbestos being found on site-did'nt close the base though) to Victoria Park in Southport. More of a family day out than a classic car show I thought, but good nonetheless-typical fairground type attractions with prices to match (£4 burger, £2 coffee), plenty of classics turned up to display but loads of empty spaces around the park-fuel prices effecting show cars?
The DMC was popular again, along with a Starsky&Hutch Torino and a 'Bullit' type Mustang (if the event organisers knew which cars were coming, would'nt have made sense to display these cars together?) it seemed a bit disorganised with parking display cars, park where you find a space at times it seemed.
Worth a visit, something for every one with a high standard of exhibitors vehicles. 8)

Ok Guy's

Some of you know that I meet with Chris Evans a few times each year.....

Well I've managed to get us a stand at CARFEST

Car-Fest is the dream of Chris Evans, a perfect family festival encompassing his love for cars, music and food: in fact fun for all the family, to be held at Laverstoke Park on the 24th - 25th August & Cholmondeley Castle on the 7th- 9th September 2012.

Advance notice from the organiser, KnightCon 2012 is on again, It's the 30th anniversary of Knight Rider!!!!

Dates are 99% confirmed, slightly early in the year, the VIP evening with a chance to meet the guests is Friday 31st August, with the main event on Saturday 1st September.

Pretty much all sci-fi is presented so there's no excuse to be bored.

The event will be at:

Xscape
Colorado Way, Castleford, West Yorkshire WF10 4TA
http://www.xscape.co.uk/yorkshire/

The Premier Inn which is just across the car park was where most overnight attendees stayed, reduced KnightCon rates TBC.

Seeing as there's no official club gathering this year, I'd hope to see as many club cars as possible.

Hav'nt been to this local show for some time, holidays etc got in the way, but made the effort and we were well pleased with the cars attending and the turnout here, even the sun shone!
Lots of varied cars, bus and armoured vehicles to look at, some immaculate and others used every day but admired by all. Free to enter and attend, only problem was the large field intended for the show was waterlogged (several cars got bogged down entering the area) so the organisers quickly switched to a nearby smaller field making it a very cosy place!
Wirral Classic Car Club did a great job, and it was a really good day, still not sure why a couple of mid 90s Mercs attended tho', but they all were shined up. As we pulled in the DMCs fans kicked in and blew a sh*t load of dust into the air covering an immaculate 3 series in a fine layer of dust-sorry!

Myself and John Chapelhow flew the Delorean flag and had a good time, had to laugh when we queded up on a mock 'starting grid' to be waved off by the Town Crier-I could hear him above the sound of the revving engines!
We definately should have more organised events like this, the public really enjoyed it as well as the motorcycle riders of classic machines and race cars that were there, one to attend in the future! 8)

Hi folks!

I've not been on the scene for a while due to academic commitments but as of today I'm clawing back into reality and will start by starting proceedings for the Tatton Park Classic Show this August.

As with last year, this is a two day event in which participant can attend both of either of the day's. I will need to know which day(s) you plan to attend to arrange for a big enough club space. The show had a huge auto jumble and attracts 100's of different cars and visitors every year. Tatton Park is situated just south of Manchester not far from the M6.

So, who’s game?

Here’s the official website: http://www.cheshireautopromotions.co.uk/vintage.php

Here are a few pics of last year’s event which went down a storm and earned two awards for Best Club Stand and Best Super Car (Claire Usher!).
