After speaking to our club president, I've switched to Hagerty Insurance.... some £200 cheaper than my renewal quote from Footman James, despite my hitting 40 last month and being a long standing customer....
Similar cover (agreed value, breakdown) but with a nominated 3000 mile limt (FJ was theoretically unlimited)
Can I please ask for a quick poll on which insurance companies are offering DMC friendly policies.

I've been with Aon (now Footman James) for years, with agreed value and breakdown coverage, and the ability to take it to work occasionally if I choose, unlimited mileage (but that's not a major factor...)
Renewal letter this year puts it at £425

Just thought I'd drop on a quick post to say how my experiences have been getting quotes for 7176 when it arrives. It's for a 30yr old male, 3,000 mile limit with 25 yr old female named driver. Car kept garaged in Essex.

Richard Hoskins: £273.00 includes UK & Euro breakdown cover and lots of other good stuff but wouldn't insure the named driver.

Footman James: £329.85 includes UK breakdown cover and 35 days euro travel

Adrian Flux: £249 (£294 with breakdown). Seemed great until the underwriter realised they were undercutting their own rate (who had provided the Richard Hoskins quote) at which point they withdrew the offer and the next best rate I could get was £450 through Royal Sun Alliance.

MCE: £350.44 included roadside assistance

Bishop Calway: £195.31 Woohoo! Will also insure on a VIN number before the car gets registered.

I know who'll be getting my business! Find them at http://www.bishopcalway.co.uk/ or call them on 01273 820303. Small family run company too, so no being kept on hold and then speaking to someone who doesn't know anything...

Hi all,

thought I'd relay this experience to you all, especially people who pay monthly
for their car insurance (and not just DeLorean insurance) through an outfit
called Premium Credit Limited.

As Phill and I have eight cars between us (not including the Cav we're scrapping),
we are looking at multi-car insurance policies and trade policies (Phill is self
employed).

As I pay my insurance monthly, and the payments are collected by Premium
Credit Ltd, I cancelled my direct debit last week as I didnt want to renew my
AON Policy just yet.

Well, Premium Credit took the money anyway from my bank on Monday,
and without going into details, put me in an awkward position as a result.

Today, I've come back from being away for a few days, to a snotty letter from
then threatening all sorts because I've cancelled my direct debit. They provide
a phone number - an 08447 number to be precise, which, when I rang it,
I was told was a premium rate phone line. :x

I asked to be phoned back, and got the old chestnut about them not being
able to make outgoing calls.

I have just emailed AON and Premium Credit (AON shut at 5pm) to vent my
spleen in no uncertain terms about this, so I'll let you know the outcome.

The bottom line is, I'm right P'd off that I've got to ring a premium rate number
to sort out this bunch of shark's mistake and get my money back!

Hi Podperson,

Forget money supermarket - and the like. You're more likely to get far more realistic quotes from boutique specialist providers like Adrian Flux, Sureterm or AON (who are mostly intermediaries).

They will give you an indicative quote - and you can insure the car on the chassis number (VIN) but this is only good for 30 days - after which they will need the DVLA licence number.

Some basic specs to use for an indicative quote.

If you go to our website under the Delorean buy/sell section - it should give you some pointers.

Best regards

Dear All,

I would just like to say what excellent service I have just had from AON/Royal Sun Alliance.

Flopsy was hit by another driver (not my fault) the day before I went into hospital, so when I came home 2 days later, I phoned AON, who were very helpful on the phone and sent a claim form out straight away.

I also phoned Chris at PJ Grady and emailed them photos of the damage, and him and Darren were straight on the case to sort out an estimate which was emailed the same day.

I got a phone call this Monday from an assessor from Royal Sun Alliance who has been today and inspected the damage and has agreed the quote for the repairs - this is all within 2 weeks of the accident happening.

All myself and Grady's need to do is wait for the confirmation letter, which should be through next week, and Flopsy will be on her way down to Essex to be sorted out!

I'd like to thank the staff at AON and Royal Sun Alliance for their prompt and helpful service, and Darren and Chris at PJ Grady for their quick response and professional attitude to everything.

Thanks,

All,

I'd recommend Adrian Flux (www.adrianflux.co.uk) for cheap insurance on a DeLorean.
I just spoke with Sureterm who offered me a 'great deal' (?) of £750 fully comprehensive.
Adrian Flux just quoted me £209 all in - a massive saving, and the quotes are like for like.
This was against Pilot 20 - with a pretty high value attached. Probably helps that I don't intend to drive it very much.

Certainly worth a call - the last DeLorean I insured with these guys was around the same price - so they're pretty consistent.
