Auto Antenna
#1
Hey

My cars radio has long since packed in. When it worked, would the auto antenna in the rear qarter vents sprout on ignition or when the radio is turned on? Would it be possible to test to see if its still functioning without hooking up a whole new audio system? And is the system adaptable to work with modern audio systems?

Phew. Cheers!

The antenna should only extend when the radio is turned on.

Depending on your system, there is usually a relay located behind the drivers set on top of the idlespeed ecu with a feed wire from the radio.

Turn on ignition, and connect this feed wire to 12v to operate the relay and extend the antenna.

This is a standard antenna wire output from most modern stereos

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are not.
