Rear number plate..... where to get?
#1
Ok, so it may be premature seeing as I don't have a car yet......

But I've seen some DeLoreans with 2 line rear number plates, but the top and bottom get chopped off.

Where are you guys getting them from these days to make sure they display neatly?

I found this place: https://www.platecreator.com/product/car...m-2-lines/
And they allow you to resize the font as you require. ( they also have a one line 12x6)
But how small to make it? As on that site there's no way of knowing if it will display in the 11x5 aperature of the delorean bezel.....

I'd want it as large as can go while still showing the letters/numbers of the reg.....

Any thoughts of a good place to go?

Hi Tris,
personally I think a regular UK size one on the front......with some writing in a black boarder and if you look on eBay for 'show plates' there are loads available for front and back. Do you know if your car will have a rear US style bezel ?

Hi Chris,
Yes, I agree, standard U.K. on the front (or if I get a short registration, a cut down one)

And the rear, yes - standard U.S. bezel, so 12x6 I understand. But I’ve read that the visible area is just 11x5 on the DeLoreans license plate opening? As such the top and bottom of the registration marks get cut off when using the U.K. font.

I've bought 12"x6" rear license plates for the D' with no issues of the number being obscured by the bezel at all. I've always used http://www.proplates.co.uk

l specified a motor cycle standard size letters which are 64 x 44mm whereas the standard car size letter is 79mm

Unless they get a ruler out you cant spot the difference and it fits very nicely on the rear.

specified it on the front and it looks better as well.

Thank you.

That’s what I’ve been trying on some of these online designers.
Thanks for the info.

Screw motorbikes, it's an import so you can legally do 64mm tall:-

I used https://www.craigsplates.com/ but designed them the artwork and they just produced it.  64mm is nicely discreet on the front too

depending on how picky your MOT tester is, you will need the 'BS' mark on the plate too - some
online show plate makers don't include these.

A second cheap set of plates would sort that out! Wink
