Will the DeLorean fit?
#1
Ok, so my DeLorean purchase is somewhere on the horizon...

My Harley has now vacated my garage.... but it didn’t need the room a DeLorean will need.
I’m currently in the process of reorganising it so the sides are clear and all “stuff” will be at the far end once I’m done moving around and binning a load of junk.

The dimensions are as follows:

Length: 17ft
(from the tools & shelves at end of the garage to the door)

Width: 8ft 9”

Width of garage door opening 7ft 1” (81 inches)

Tristan,

If you Google Delorean Dimensions you can get a good diagram with all the measurements. Allow extra 11" to open the door. I can only open the driver door in my garage.

Cheers Ian,

I’ve seen those dimensions and according to them I should get her in with some space either side.
Well at least enough to open a door.

It’s only for storage - any work I do will be in my Dads garage as he has the luxury of a 2.5 car garage.

Another question then, what is ground clearance at the front like?
My drive has a steep start, so I need to be sure I can get it up there too.
I’ve seen that it’s 5.6” - but is that the nose high height? Or the euro spring height??

Just measured mine and it's about 5" from ground to bottom of anti roll bar bracket, there is about 8" under the front fender. That's with lowered Euro springs.

I'm the same, have to get it fully to one side to allow one door to open.

I’ve made up a length of wood to the width of the car as shown on those diagrams.
(73.1”)

And if the car is central I would get 16” space either side.

Thanks guys.

Having the boiler in there is a bonus. I'd do my very best to make the door draft proof and you could even insulate the back of it with some thin polystyrene. There is also a glue down rubber strip you can let the door seat on about 4" wide. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Heavy-Duty-10...fzwexW1UGA.
I've used these several times..they are great. They stop rain blowing under and It has the added advantage the the car will not accidentally roll over it....Important for me with the drive going down hill.

Yep, I had the boiler moved down there when we needed a new one, knowing that I’d want to keep my dream car there at some point.

The door is wind and water tight and the concrete floor is lipped to prevent rain getting under.
Although I want to install a more secure shutter style door that is radio controlled.

Hopefully I’ll get a nice up to 30k car soon......... Wink

When I lived in Stevenage I only had a single garage, as well as the De I had a new Clio 3dr.
In the garage, I could get the DeLorean in and open the door with ease, but the Clio I struggled with because
being a 3dr the doors were wider and it was harder to squeeze in and out.
