I think they are made of a sort of cardboard …..or as JZD might say….."a unique cellulose based composite, non rusting eco-frendly, renewable, safely material."

'Duroplast'!

Cotton residue impregnated with some phenolic resin, supposedly lightweight and strong but probably lethal to produce. Nothing much goes to waste in the communist states! Imageine us poor evil western Capitalists having to make do with a Delorean while our Eastern bloc friends were swanning about with wanton abandon in their 2-stroke 2-cylinder Duroplast love machines under our very noses...

Apparently they even had to specially develop a bio-bug to eat the material as it refuses to rot away! Just don't park your Trabi within 50ft of an inefcted one Big Grin

I've had a few drives in it and it can't help to put a smile on your face! Fun times.
