DeLoreans wanted for 'For the Love of Cars' TV Show CH4
#1
We have, as per the statement below from the production company been working on a major TV programme. They have been restoring a DeLorean as part of the programme and want to get as many DeLoreans as possible to attend a get together as part of the finale. This will be around Hertford (Hetfordshire) area, I have pointed out that this will be an issue due to time of year however they will pay reasonable expences (fuel) and feed you!

“The club have been supporting a new prime-time car series for a major UK Broadcaster who as part of the series are celebrating six iconic vehicles, one of them being The DeLorean. As part of a filming event, that will be the big finish of the episode, they would like to bring together as many DeLoreans as we can muster. It sounds like it would be a really interesting day. It would be on the 14th of December and in and around the Hertford area. It would be great to hear from anyone that would like to be involved.”

Any one is welcome DOC member or not, I will try and get this cross-posted on other forums as well. If you fancy a day out in leafy Hertfordshire and to see your car on TV then please get in touch with me via 'PM' or phone: 07915 673889

hmmmm..... well if I could get someone to have Kez for the day and do the school runs, and if I could afford £60 in petrol to come down.....

I was gonna SORN my car this month too, darn...........

I'm guessing the Hoopers will be ok for this as its local for them?

They will cover expences! but yes I have pointed out that this is not the best time of year to try and do what they are attempting, none the less it is when they have chosen to do it.

Hi Chris

Can you message me details please - address, format etc - I'd love to come down if I may. Do you think I could bring a 'friend' with me who is absolutely passionate about DeLoreans if he is able to get the day off? He would love the opportunity to sit in one - and even better if someone would be willing to take him for a short drive - boyhood dream and all that!

Do please let me know - thank you!

Good luck finding owners willing to cake their weak chassis in nice road salt and drive on ice

Just not worth it, even for an incentive. It's a real shame as I would have been up for that Sad

Yes this has been pointed out by myself on many an occasion, however that is there choice to do it then.... None the less I have tried to get this across all forums so if any one is up for it (regardless of being on the DOC-UK forum or not) to give as many people the opportunity if they so wish, if car owners can go through me regardless so I can keep them informed. Forums do come across as a little harsh, hope you didn't see it that way (i'm not like that). Hopefully the  emoticon put it across the way in which it was intended Smile

I just find it extremely difficult to see anyone crazy enough to do it. Tis a real shame it's not a summer, it would have been huge. Perhaps they could sign up here and they may be swayed?

No, not at all Luke, The original idea was for the whole sequence to be done at night in Central London in February! Fortunately it was decided that was not a great idea! But yes it has been pointed out there will be limited number of cars available and indeed not just DeLoreans as they are doing similar with 5 other Marques of vehicle. Due to when the programme is being aired means it will be before the summer arrives. They were made aware of the DOC summer event (last year) but due to other filming stuff they could not get a film crew to that.

hmmm......... they'll cover expenses.............. put me down as a maybe, it all depends on
if I can get someone to look after Kezia for me and take her to/pick her up from school.

I'd have to bring Gwen with me, she'll be coming up for 5m old at that point.

What time of day do they want the cars in place for? I'm around 2.5 hours from Hertford
for normal traffic conditions, but nearer 3hrs if I have to battle the rush hour traffic.

Quote:Do they want time machines,
I did ask this question last week, as yet they have not got back to me about it (producer is on holiday I think) So the answer is I don't know, yet. There is only a very small section about BTTF in the programme so I think they are in two minds about it.

How certain are we that this show will potray the car in a fair light? In other words; will they take the time to judge the car on its own merits and in the context of it being 30+ years old? Are you sure it's a program the DOC would like to support? (speaking as the person hoodwinked into involving us in "it seemed like a good idea at the time")

Personally I don't care what anyone says about JZD but misinformation about the car really gets my goat.

Yeah as much as I love BTTF can we keep some things just about the car itself?

The DOC (UK) have been working with the production company for over a year so far on this programme, along with 5 other leading owners clubs we have been involved with this series of programmes on 6 iconic British vehicles. Each programme features a car being restored (though in the case of the DeLorean more re-furbished) with the whole programme being focused on ‘celebrating’ the cars rather than focusing on the down sides/problems Etc. Unfortunately I am very limited about what I can write/show pictures/give limited information, about the programme other than it’s going to be on a major UK channel early/mid next year. All we can do is hope that they put a positive slant on the vehicle, as is the whole point of the series,
Quote:are celebrating six iconic vehicles,
This is the remit for the six (or possibly seven programmes) however only time will tell I suppose!
