Time Machine on ebay..
#16
Strange thing is, even if you have a standard 'L' DeLorean, it's instantly recognised as the car from BTTF !! Whereas I would love a Time Machine version, the ordinary car gets just as much attention ( although admittedly nowhere as much as the BTTF ) without all the scrap metal on the rear deck!! 8)
#10556 'Ol Stainless' running surprisingly well,Audi A5 2.0T Quattro smug as usual,Wenault Slaguna stationary for the mo',the R.V.Enterprise clocking the U.K.miles up,new fleet addition-Jessica the Daewoo Matiz,silly but 55mpg....!

I must admit I remember going to see Chris's BTTF car in the East Kilbride shopping centre which must have been around 10 years ago or so, makes you wonder where the time goes, it was my first view of a BTTF car ~ remember it well like it was yesterday cracking car.

I believe that Clive Preast ( from the west midlands) still owns it. The last time I heard, it was either on loan to the Beaulieu motor museum of it could be Gaydon.

I was under the impression that I was selling it to Glen H......for a laughably small sum of money......to help him achieve his dream.... but it turned out not to be the case! Things were seldom as they seemed with Glen!

I believe it is Gaydon, since I'm not too far from there and often people ask me if my D is the one from the Museum and why did I remove all the cool time-machine parts...

Well if it is the same car you would never know they had ever had the BTTF stuff fitted. We and Chris N, drilled no holes and used existing fixings.
When I sold it we had already swapped all the bits from my beautiful 83 low milage manual, to a (grey ) slightly tired automatic car......it was called Herman, after the man in the Louisiana swamps who sold it to young Andrew Westerman.....who later sold it me!

Yes thats probably true, but probably was not a bad buy at 30k, bearing in mind the way the price is going for a 'normal' car. BUT it would worry me the fixings into the panels, the back window removed and replaced with tin sheet, it's almost made it in to a car that cant be changed back to stock without extensive/expensive work. BUT having purchased a BTTF replica would you want to change it back anyway?

Appears to be listed at £35k starting price now. I believe that's the kind of money Bruce Coloumbe asks for his basic conversion (before you add hover wheels etc), but Bruce have plenty of advertising and reputation going for him.

I'm still planning to (eventually) make some time machine add-ons for AURYN (reversible), but designing something neat would be half the fun, so it would only loosely resemble the film version. Of course for some building is just tedious and owning is the fun bit.

It's listed at £35k now, you should place a bid since it's at the price you offered. For the quality of the the BTTF conversion, it's a bargain at that price!

Cant be that much of a bargain Mike, was only bid up to 30k last time, that's Ebay for you I suppose. I think a proper classic car auction route would be the way to go, maximum exposure to people with a lot of money, I'm sure a private collector would snap it up.

When you know the cost of some of these part's (as Luke would be able to attest, they're far from cheap), plus building it on top of a sorted D to begin with, it is a bargain price.

any product is only worth what the market dictates. if theres a lack of buyers then the price will fall.

I'm not arguing with you on that point, the parts do indeed cost a fortune especially the unique parts that are used nor do I underestimate the time/money that has gone in to it. My point is that it realised what the market thought (price) That's why I think the classic/specialist auction route would be a better bet as it would probably get a better price than Ebay. it would reach a much wider audience with deeper pockets, that's just my opinion. But what I do think (and I know as I have been asked the question by other people) is that the way this one has been built by putting permenent fixing into panels, replacing windows with bits of tin Etc does also put people off, should you ever wish to revert it back to stock would be very expensive and time consuming.
Again I stress, I'm not knocking the car (see auction bit above!)
Chris

Edit: Also what has been pointed out to me when people have been asking me about it, is what happens should we ever get an E.U directive (or whatever  ) regarding all the bits added on to it, would it then become un-insurable for road risks and simply become a museum piece?? Then even more so the ability to revert it back to stock would be more important.
