Guinney1971 Wrote:Battery was FUBAR Luke, been on the car a few years tho so needed replacing as
it kept going flat after the car had been parked for a few days. Alternator was
replaced a couple of years ago and has been checked and is working fine.

New battery came with a 5yr guarantee, so impressed with that - plus the fantastic
service from the RAC ( Wink Chris), it was less then 20 mins between phoning them and
the new battery being on the car Big Grin Chris, the VW Splitty came fully loaded with
bridesmaids, not Libyans Wink

Ahhh good stuff Smile

The door locking modules are normally the components to drain the batteries when left over a week. Best get a battery disconnect connected Claire, the battery will be a lot better if you leave it a week or two over winter.

I've got a trickle charge thingy to connect when the car is next in the garage rather then being out on drive.

Central locking doesnt work on my car, so thats one less thing to drain the battery

Best £6 you can spend on the car, completely kill the battery when not in use.

Couldn't agree with Mike more especially if you leave your car for a few weeks between use.

I would definitely advise you go with Mikes suggestion below Claire. Chris will also have good experience with this with his job Smile

My central locking doesn't work either, but (correct me if I'm wrong) the module still draws a LOT of power from the battery. You can get them modified to draw much less, but the easiest way is a battery disconnect. I just take my negative off currently, but will be getting a relocated handle fitted soon behind the seat.

I've got a battery cut of thingy, just never got around to fitting it lol

My door lock modules and solenoids aren't in the car, they got removed years ago - they're on the
to do list with loads of other stuff....pah, I've only had the car 11yrs, whats the rush lol

Hey Claire,

Just wanted to say thankyou so much for the Car, Steven was very overwhelmed, we had an absolute great day made even better with the Delorean. Thoses pictures are amazing any chance I could get a copy? We definately got loads and loads of attention, I think at one point the police were called to move us all on due to the big crowd of tourists.

Hopefully one day we can Ste and I will have our own Smile

no problem Lindsey, glad you had a great day Smile

Yep, I did see the Police and wondered if it was due to the De and the VW attracting
attention lol

PM me your address, and I'll send you a CD of all the pics I took on the day - and as
I said, you are both very welcome at any of our Club meets, regardless of whether
you have a De or not x
