*Purely Sentimental* - My search for VIN #3218
#1
Hi All,

Wanted to introduce myself to the European D community. I used to own VIN #3218 which was given to me by my grandfather with 3k miles on it, the car had been regularly serviced by Rob Grady. I lost the car in an accident in Long Island, NY in 1990 and sadly my grandfather a few years later.

Attached are a couple pics I recently found of the damage. I was curious what happened to her (tried reaching out to Rob Grady but haven't heard anything back), whether she was stripped down for parts or even rebuilt so I pulled a carfax on the VIN. Here's what came back

I would love to know where 3218 ended up (or pieces of her). I'm going to purchase another D sometime this year and for purely sentimental reasons would love to try and transplant something from my original car (anything)....if possible.

I tried the USA forums, and just posted the same on deloreaneurotec.co.uk , a few members of dmctalk.org were kind enough to share some feedback from my original post but so far I haven't had much luck:

If you guys have any thoughts on my recent obsession please let me know.

All the best, Jason

I used to own a DeLorean! Sadly it was totaled in 1990, planning on getting another soon...

Hi Jason,

so sorry to see your old car in such a bad way, and lets hope that parts of it
still live on in other cars.

My car, #2292, has a front fascia, spoiler and lower grille from a car that was
burnt out, I dont know the Vin of that one sadly.

I guess after 22yrs, it would be hard to track down a car that may have bits from
your old one on it, as its possible that the car(s) would have changed hands
several times over the years.

Good luck with your search, you never know, something may crop up, and please
keep in touch and show us pics of your next DeLorean when you get it Smile

If it helps, it's not known within the UK club at all (at the moment) thought these things do have a habit of coming out of the woodwork so to speak!
