Midland Railway - Butterley "Road Rally" - July 11th
#1
Hi chaps,

Thought some of you might be interested in knowing about the Midland Railway - Butterley's Road Rally on the July 11th.

It costs £4.00 per vehicle which includes all day train tickets for 2 adults & 2 children along with discounted tickets for any extra passengers in entered vehicles.

There's plenty going off over the weekend as it's also our Narrow Gauge Gala and Modellers Weekend as well so there should be plenty to see and do!

If you're interested please feel free to download the booking form which I'll have uploaded tomorrow!

Thanks,

Paul

Hiya Paul,

well I'm sure me and Phill (and our little'un) will be up for this, a nice local one for us! lol

It'll be weird going on the steam train past our old house in Golden Valley tho.....

Will look out for the booking form Smile

well massive thanks to Paul for inviting the DOC-UK to this event, and thank you to everyone at the Midland Railway Centre for a brilliant day out.

Midland Railway Centre is a very interesting place to visit, and I have to confess we didnt get time to see absolutely everything, although it was great riding on the steam train. A great day out for all the family, and highly recommended Big Grin

Thank you all for coming! Glad to see you enjoyed it!

Was excellent to see you there - and £25 should be wending its way in the post to you very soon!

Look forward to hopefully attending a few more meets etc in the future. Smile

Hi Paul

Was good to meet you. I had a fantastic time and even managed to get a bit of sunburn

I had no idea so much was hidden away at Midland Railway, and it was great to be able to get up close to the trains there.

Definitely another date to add to the DOC events diary!

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are not.

I'm under the impression John Peck (the organiser) is thinking of going for a weekend event next year, based on the excellent day this year!

Won't be for another week or so. Paying for some model locomotives on Thursday which I really don't need but did rather fancy! Big Grin Then the holiday to Wales is calling.

Will definatly try to get along to a few more meets and shows - although I won't be displaying the current car!

cool!!

Not sure if we'll be able to do the same weekend next year tho, as it
clashes with the big Vauxhall event at Billing Aquadrome that we normally
go to.

I suppose anyone wanting to do all weekend could camp at the Golden Valley Campsite
just down the lane from the Swanick Junction site?

Not sure what the situation with camping would be. Presumably that would be the case however.
