DOC-UK Summer Event - Chirk, Shropshire, 11-13 June 2010
#91
Just booked into the hotel for the Saturday night. I'll be there early on the Saturday morning. Is the final itinerary sorted yet?
What's the story with the numbers booked (plus DeLorean's)?

Looking forward to catching up Big Grin

Hi Chris
Quote:I know there's well over 20 hotel rooms booked, with a few more latecomers signing up this week.

You should have had a printed itinerary with your last mag...?

Long time, be good to see you there!

Claire,
Are we all going down in convoy? What are your plans? Where to meet...etc?

Hi All,

well as we've got someone driving up from Colchester to join us who should
be with us about 3pm-4pm depending on traffic, we cant leave until they get
here.

I would suggest anyone wanting to convoy from our house get to us by
3pm, so that we're all ready to go as soon as poss. (if you need our new
address drop me a pm and I'll pass it on to you). If you need fuel, there is
a Morrisons just down the road from us.

As for the weekend itinerary, its roughly as follows:

Friday - arrive from early afternoon, chill out, 3 course meal in the evening, and then move on to the bar Smile

Saturday - Breakfast, then around 11-11.30am set off on scenic drive through the countryside to the Horseshoe Pass, stopping for lunch/coffee break at the famous Ponderosa Cafe who have reserved one of their car-parks for us.
In the afternoon, you are free to do what you wish, be it visit Chirk Castle, the Llangollen Steam Railway, explore the local area or come back to the hotel. We will be having a bit of a technical session in the car park for those who wish to do a bit of tinkering, and we will also be having a 'Peoples Choice' competition. There will be trophy presentations in the evening for the winner of this and also for the owner of the car that has travelled furthest to the event. Saturday evening we will be having a 3 course meal in our private dining area, before moving to our own private lounge where we will have talks from our guest speakers, the charity raffle (in aid of Parkinsons research) and presentations. After that, its back to the bar, or whatever you wish to do.

Sunday am - Breakfast and hotel check out for those going home that day. Late morning, we will be setting off to Trefor, for a ride on a canal boat over the Aqueduct. This is free of charge and is being paid for by the DeLorean Owners Club. After this, people are free to carry on exploring the beautiful Shropshire countryside or make their way home.

Dont forget, that your stay at Moreton Park also gives you full access to the facilities of their nearby sister hotel, including sauna, pool and gymnasium.

Safe journey everyone, and see you there!

I take as much notice of weather forecasts as horoscopes. But if that's anything to go by, it's looking promising. A few more degrees C would be nice. So long as it doesn't rain

...Just a quick post, as i'm late already. I have to pick up the g/f.
LEX has passed her mot. Big Grin Handbrake has to be treated gingerly, we'll say no more than that. Got some interesting stories, and photos to show people.

My DMC meet starts NOW. Current mileage on LEX, 27186.
I'm leaving Edinburgh to pick up Clare at East Kilbride (Her mum's house), then on to Rugby, where we will stay for a day. Then on Friday, on to Wales to meet all you guys. I'm saying all this with confidence, but as LEX is leaking coolant, and "just" passed her mot, its anyone's guess how the trip will go for me, Clare, and LEX...

To answer people's question, i'm with the RAC. Hopefully, they WONT be hearing from me. Just going to have to take it easy, and stop regularly to check coolant etc along the way. The car is stuffed full of stuff for LEX maintenance, and a small bit of space for Chris travel stuff. No room for Clare's stuff though (she'll be overjoyed! ha-ha!) - i'mm be asked to reshuffle, i'm sure.

Fingers crossed, see you on Friday afternoon.

Signing out.

GREAT NEWS RISSY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

Ok, just had the BBC on the phone, they want to cover us live on Friday evening for the news bulletin - they want an idea on how many cars are gonna be there:

So far, I can think of:

2 from Holland
Mike and Mary Hooper
Chris Williams
RichH
Rissy

There will be myself, Phill, MikeH and Birksie travelling from near Nottingham, and I hope we'll be there around 6pm all being well - that should make 10
cars - is anyone else booked in for the Friday? - can we have a 'show of hands' as I need to contact the guy back at the BBC and let him know.

Thanks in advance,
