DMCH Open House event held May 2003
#1
Well, it has only taken six years to edit and post my short edit of the DMCH Open House event held May 2003.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6XU2-VuPJ4s
or
http://tinyurl.com/dey7s4

If you press the ‘HQ’ button at the bottom right corner of the movie you can see it in ‘High Quality’.

11th May 2003 - This was a great opportunity for myself and some of the other Brits to drive a variety of DeLoreans in race conditions and this for me was the highlight of the whole event. It was a hot, humid day (typical of Houston in May?). I also came home with a calibrated 170mph speedo, OEM steering wheel and other treats for my car.

The DeLorean with the Camaro muffler was sadly wrecked and written off a few years later. I have raised a post on the DML about this as I am particularly interested in the non-stock manual transmission and what it was sourced from….

The DeLorean with the DMC less grill and green decals down the side was an early Stage II car. The black Auto was also a Stage II too. Since then a Stage III supercharged version has been in the works…

Hope you enjoy the movie!
Regards,

Chris Hawes

Well one thing you do notice is that D's don't exactly fly off the line do they?! Big Grin

Also how much they sit back when they've got stock springs on the front - looks like they're about to take off!

Well I think there is one or two which might fly off the line.

The black auto looked painfully slow and that I understand was a stage II too! Shock

I have another video to post soon of a UK speed run in my car. My car is on Chrispy's euro springs so it of course sits low but a spectator commented that even mine looked like it was doing wheelie's as it launched from the starting line... More details to follow soon. 'soon' is very loosely meant Smile

Lol, I don't think that DMC was stock. The muscle car didn't exactly beat it by a mile. I vaguely remember seeing these videos a while back. Al, do you know anything about the cars spec?

Great work Chris! Smile To be fair, DeLorean ownership aint' exactly about the speed is it haha, its about driving a piece of automotive history and quite possibly one of the best looking cars ever made... with styling that fails to show its age decade after decade!

I've seen those clips before from a link on DMCtalk. I can't remember exactly but my suspicion would be it was a turbocharged Eagle 3.0 in there.

Worth a look as well for the thread on the guy who's putting a 4-500bhp Supra engine in the back of his at the moment! Shock Mr Green

Thanks Jerzey!

Great response Jonny, but, if you're going to build a speed machine why not do it with style Big Grin

I loved that trip out to Houston - OMG, was it really 6 years ago!!! Shock Shock

I remember racing our Chrysler Sebring Convertible hire car up the strip against a Ford Mercury
sedan -I whooped his ass man!! yeah!!! lol  Mind you, I did the trick of revving it up
to about 5000 in neutral, then putting it in Drive when the lights went green Big Grin

The Chrysler felt quicker then it really was tho tbh......

I'll post some photos up if I get 5 - hey Chris, do you remember that geezer with the really
dodgy looking orange and white socks?

I don't think we'll be seeing that 'stock' Cortina in Ashes to Ashes anytime soon, lol. Thank God it was quick. The audio was cut off just as your 17.??? was mentioned Chris. Can you remember your time? A low 17 or better is a good DMC time for a stockish car!
