How is the fuel tank held in place? - Craig Churchill - 30 Sep 2006

Hi

If i remove the big metal triangle coverin the fuel tank will the tank fall on my head?

how is the tank held in?

many thanks

Yeah sort of!

Once you take the metal triangle off there is only about 6 foam pads on the tank holding it in the V. I would drain the tank first if your planning to do this and remove the pump and the fuel gauge sender.

they're held up by the filler neck and associated pipework clipped to the top. An empty tank will stay in place. Even a full tank held in with those foam pads and 25 years can still be a sod to take out on purpose!
