Well it started pretty much straight away !

Such a relief after struggling with my big hands to fit the fuel tank baffle!

Regarding the steering rack ...As Chris W says, Chris N is the expert on these.

There were numerous types fitted over the years, some better than others. I've seen all sorts......one was where the original bottom half of the column had been left in place and a sprocket fitted to it.......a chain the went accros behind the dash, to the RHS, onto another sprocket to the re-positioned steering wheel! Not Ideal!

I remember driving another that steered better around left hand corners.....than RH ones!

I'm sure you will sort it out OK. And look forward to seeing it in due course.

Hi Chris,

Chris N has done a fantastic job on the steering conversion - from my investigation, with the exception of the rack itself- everything else is OEM DeLorean and looks factory in the car.
I worked out what the problem was - The lower steering column universal joint had practically locked solid - which caused the rack to move.  I replaced the joint and also installed a new steering rack retainer bracket - which solved the issue.
Funny enough - the steering is a lot lighter now!!
