Why do YOU like the DeLorean so much? - PJ Grady (Europe) - 10 Apr 2007

All,

I'm doing a bit of a study...and I'm keen to hear your thoughts.
I've met a lot of DeLorean owners and enthusiasts - and I'm trying to gauge exactly what it is that first attracted peoples interest to the car.

For many, it seems that the BTTF films were a BIG influence - and lots of owners have wanted a Delorean ever since they first saw the movies.

For others (myself included), it's about the history and the idea of building something from a dream - and managing to develop such a stylish car with a limitted budget and a short timescale.

Others discard all of this and just like the look of the car and 'the doors that go up'!

For most people - you could probably tick all options - but please pick the one that is most appropriate for you.

Thanks!

Darren

Hi Darren,

BTTF was the reason I got into the Delorean. Many people remember the car from there childhood and now that there grown up, Well most of them, they want the car that they remember.

However I also remember The Spy Who Loved Me and seeing the S1 Esprit drive off of the boat in the film as a child. Going on the posters I had on my wall as a kid I think the Esprit out numbered the Delorean so I'm now back in Lotus Land Big Grin

For me my initital interest came from a photograph of my Dad sitting in a DeLorean in a dealership in Atlanta in the '80s.

He was on a business trip and decided to have a look around the dealership that was displaying some DeLoreans at the time.

And ever since I saw that pic I simply loved the car, not sure why to be honest, but ever since that day I've loved the DeLorean.

I still have that polaroid somewhere......

That's my main reason (which falls under the "Other" category I guess). But of course, the BTTF films strengthened my love for the car.

I voted looks, but it helps a lot that the handling is very good and it has the potential to be a really nice car to drive, regardless of its 'exotic' status.
