PRV Engine on Ebay - Chris Williams - 30 Jan 2015

Not a odd fire PRV but some parts may be usable (Block Etc) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Renault-2-9-v ... 3aa0fea468

i wonder how long before they stumble across the delorean link and add a zero to the price...

Re: PRV Engine on Ebay - Chris P - 31 Jan 2015

It looks different yet again….I've got good ones from a Peugeot and from a Volvo waiting 'in stock' …in case I ever need one…but we all know they are pretty bullet proof, if not abused (or turbo-charged) or over-heated………. In my experience anyway.

Can someone tell me what makes, models, years these engines went in?

Very varied, I dont have a full list (Martin G may know better) but any V6 in Volvo/Renault/peugeot from very early to late 80's may be correct, usually if it looks correct it (or part of it) is correct. Some have carb's on (pugs) later ones like this one are even fire.

That's a 2975cc out of a safrane. I didn't know they were sold as manuals in the UK. Almost entirely useless for parts to fix DeLorean engines. No internals are common, including the block.

Re: PRV Engine on Ebay - Dan Willis - 01 Feb 2015

190bhp.. so, unless it was an easy swap (is there such a thing?!) it's probably of no use. Tempting for pennies though.

It doesn't say it came with a manual, just that it has one now. Could be from anything (that'll fit) Tongue

Re: PRV Engine on Ebay - Chris P - 01 Feb 2015

I wonder if it would fit to a Delorean type gearbox? At that price it would be an interesting idea!

Re: PRV Engine on Ebay - stunned_monkey - 01 Feb 2015

Safrane engines are 165hp, and that engine, as seen will not bolt to a 369/UN1 because it is from a transverse application. You can switch the lower crank case and sump and then it would, but frankly that's the easy bit. Getting the EFi to work is another matter.

Re: PRV Engine on Ebay - Chris P - 01 Feb 2015

Thanks for that Martin….I knew you would know. Probably not worth the bother then.

Re: PRV Engine on Ebay - 88mph - 01 Feb 2015

What Make, Model had the nearest to our Delorean engines?

Re: PRV Engine on Ebay - Chris Williams - 01 Feb 2015

There you go, I thought the block was the same at least! Other than that easiest is volvo 260 early 760. Look almost identical apart from the sump and a few other bits and bobs.

Re: PRV Engine on Ebay - stunned_monkey - 01 Feb 2015

The block is not the same as it has 93mm bore liners.

Re: PRV Engine on Ebay - 88mph - 01 Feb 2015

Is our Delorean engine totally unique then Martin?

Re: PRV Engine on Ebay - stunned_monkey - 01 Feb 2015

It's a unique combination of standard components, all of which are used on other cars - except the sump, even though that has a Renault part number.
