DELOREAN FOR SALE UK - ayr41 - 02 Sep 2014

Spotted this on E bay today an ex Texas Museum, a fair chunk of money to own this 7000 mile example, may be of use to someone in the meantime I'll keep doing the Lotto.

Re: DELOREAN FOR SALE UK - Dangermouse - 02 Sep 2014

Interesting, viz-a-viz our other discussions - this has a Beverley Hills Car Club sticker in the windshield, so I wonder how bad it was before Chris N got his hands on it?

Well spotted that man, they do sell DeLoreans of all values mind not just the lower end of the scale. 8)

True, buty they are mostly "affordable" examples.

A 15k Chris N refurbishment would cover a bit of work, I would imagine. There was a decent looking red painted one there earlier this year with 7800 miles. Does PJ do paint removal?

If it's the same one I'm thinking of then thats now down on the south coast awaiting re-commissioning.

The drivers seat skin doesn't look like it's in great condition, missing centre headliner (and pictures which look like they have been taken at strategic angles so you can't tell if there are headliners in the doors), what you can see of the rear of the chassis looks quite grubby, panel alignment/gaps, plastic coolant bottle...

It should be absolutely mint inside and out to be asking that kind of money. And who doesn't change the front springs?

"Hawk-eye Mike". You go guy! Spot on! Sniff sniff... I smell deceit.

Re: DELOREAN FOR SALE UK - Rich Hanlon - 03 Sep 2014

The photo taken square on through the rear louvres also shows that the rearmost headlining is really saggy and drooping.

Agreed, the photos do look quite 'strategic' in some cases don't they?

Re: DELOREAN FOR SALE UK - MikeWard - 03 Sep 2014

Nice spot Rich, I hadn't noticed that.

Well spotted hadn't noticed that, but do you think it may be the wiring loom as you can see through to the front above the saggy bit? perhaps the rear most board is missing?

Would I be right in saying the true value of this car is around £10k less? I've seen cars in the US all day long for $20-25k in better condition with only slightly higher mileage. Let's be honest, who doesn't believe most Deloreans state side with the 'usual' 30-40,000 miles hasn't had a drill conveniently placed behind the dash for a while?

Smile Ferris, it doesn't work in reverse, you can't wind the miles off unless you disassemble the entire speedometer.

Broken angle drives on the other hand could very well be plausible.

I just don't believe that all these Deloreans conveniently seem to have the same mileage. Like you say, I reckon tons of them just ignore the angle drives when they pop at low mileage. With the wear on the interior on this car, I just don't see it being 7000 miles and it's no better condition than ones that go all day long on dmctalk for around £17-18k fully imported, V5, taxed, MOT etc.
