The Woodsmoor Classic Car Rally 2014

www.wccr.org.uk

Some say, it’s the best local community car show in the Stockport area and if there's any fairness in this world the sun will shine as brightly as it did in 2013. All we know is it’s called the Woodsmoor Classic Car Rally and it’s happening again this year.

Yes folks I'm pleased to say we’re running the Woodsmoor Classic Car Rally (WCCR) for our fourth year on Bank Holiday Monday 25th August 2014 and hoping for good weather! As you might remember the WCCR is a not for profit community event which supports two very worthy charities and relies on donations and the kind support of classic car owners, visitors, vendors, volunteers and local businesses. We are pleased to confirm that we will be supporting Tommy’s and St Ann’s Hospice again this year and hoping to raise even more than the £3114 we made in 2013. We will split 100% of all proceeds from the event evenly between these two charities, so we do hope you’ll be able to help out in one of the following ways, as we couldn’t do it without you:

Vehicle Exhibits

Motors, be they Classic, Vintage, Historic or Modern Interest vehicles we would love to have you join us. Please drop me a quick email to express your interest, ask any questions or to confirm your attendance.

There are two Trophies up for grabs again this year; The Mayor’s Award which the Deputy Mayor of Stockport will present to her favourite exhibit and The People’s Choice Award Trophy which will be voted for by attendees at the show.

This year we hope to have a special feature in our show and need some help in making this happen. We have recently found out that Flowery Field in Woodsmoor was the birthplace of the Swallow Sidecar Company founded in 1920 by William Walmsley. He subsequently moved to Blackpool where he met William Lyons and eventually moved to Coventry, where the company became SS Jaguar Cars. The rest, as they say, is history and all this only 500 yards from our showground… so is Woodsmoor the spiritual home of Jaguar Cars? The vehicle produced in Woodsmoor was a motorcycle side car known as a Stockport Zeppelin and we are hoping to track one down to bring to the show so if you know the whereabouts of one of these elusive beasts or any other interesting materials related to this please let us know. Check out our website for further information.

Trade and Craft Stall Holders

All are welcome: Wedding / Limousine Services; Vehicle Maintenance & Auto Jumble; Crafts: Jewellery, Artwork, Cards, Candles, Soaps, etc; Food; Fashion; Pets; Plants or Vintage Collectibles and Antiques. Whether you are attending for the first time or for a return visit please email me to secure your space. Please come along to offer something to those who are not quite so car mad so they can browse and spend! If you let us know in advance we’ll be happy to include your details on our website to let viewers know all about you.

Visitors

You don’t have to be car mad to come along and enjoy the range of exhibitions, goods and foodstuffs we’ll have on sale. The Stockport Georgians Cricket and Football clubhouse and site will be available where you can purchase refreshments; teas, coffees, soft drinks and a bite to eat. If you are interested in joining this excellent local sports facility I’m sure there will be someone on hand to tell you more about their activities. We also hold a raffle and, if previous events are anything to go by, there have been some great prize donations from local businesses so raffle tickets will hopefully sell strongly again this year.

Volunteers

Can you help? It takes quite a few people to help manage this event and we couldn’t do it without you. So if you fancy a bit of fun and have time to give on the day we would love to hear from you (breakfast will be provided). Please get in touch and come along and join the gang. We look forward to meeting you; please just drop us an email to express your interest in helping out so we can make preparations to welcome you.

Raffle Prize Donations

Do you know of someone who may be able to offer a raffle prize this year? We’ve had some fantastic donations in our first three years which means that our raffle sellers had a tough job keeping up with demand. If you would like to make a raffle prize donation please do get in touch via email.

Corporate Sponsorship

Does anyone work for a business that likes to get involved with events like the WCCR? Whether it’s donations of goods or services (as raffle prizes perhaps), encouraging staff volunteers or attendance at the event we’d love to hear about anyone that would be interested in helping out at our event in the community. And please, if you have a local events calendar of some sort at your work do add the WCCR to it with details of the event’s website.

Our Charities

Details of the charities we are supporting can be found by following the links below.

We look forward to hearing from you and hopefully welcoming you to the fourth Woodsmoor Classic Car Rally
