Bttf If your wanting to help people (like your posts said) why not post the plans on the forum so everyone can see them.? Im sure there are also castings experts on here that can help you cast some of the parts you mention.

Hi

The time has come, I am about to start the build on the rear bulk head. I have obtained some plans from Mr Weavers old site. Has any one used these plans before? BTTF, you mentioned you had some plans, are the attached the same as what you have or have you got a different set? From research it seems that everyones rear bulkheads are slightly differently designed. I'm of course looking for the easiest version (not necessarily screen accurate) . Can any one confirm that the below is the correct dimensions?

You need to make sure you also build it upon the correct 1981 model otherwise it won't be correctly done, correctly.

If you need any reference pics, I'll drive over when the weather is good Mike. Maybe go for a pint at Hudsons again! Smile

You may just be right!
It is, it was take just after they built the car and the aged it making off the wilres dirrty to show time travel. They have since been removed and replaced and the red cans which should be all the same height unless you have a part 3 car and 1 was smaller, they have since been restored to be shiney red.
The bttf car is going through its own restoration at them moment, all faded wire, hoses, clamps etc have been removed and replaced with new,
I have a bucket of old parts just to keep for spares

Brilliant! Got close up pics? Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you replace 90% of something that had history, does it not lose credibility? It's like taking the Mona Lisa and giving her a facelift and some extensions.

bttf car Wrote:No I thinlk a few replaced faded wires and hoses will never change the history of this car, its not like I'm removing all the signatures of stars and directors. Still the only car signed by both the bobs

Haven't you changed the flux bands, time circuits, SID, time time drive switch, and flux capacitor also? Don't get me wrong, I think you've made the right choice as it will look fresher. I personally don't really care if Bob said something. I've a huge amount of respect for that guy, but the thing that matters the most is that it makes you happy, and I've enjoyed working on tweaks here and there every bit as much as driving the car. Maybe not changing the front springs though and almost having my head taken off

Re: Any one else thinking of doing a BTTF conversion? - lukebrynycz - 15 Jan 2014

All sounds good. In all honesty, as long as it's somewhere close and not a complete failure, it really doesn't matter. Who's to say Doc himself wouldn't have improved or changed a few things since his first one? Look at the BTTF ride, their cars were nothing like the film cars but they had gullwing doors and looked awesome.

I think the problem with the majority of this community (certainly in the US) is the nit picking at the most stupid things, most times at differences in which actually make the car usable on the roads. Who on earth would smash the back window through!? Also, why would you add the blanking plates to the rear vents and obscure your brake lights? Bruce adds little metal plates to the rear window cover so that you can adjust your torsion bars.

Re: Any one else thinking of doing a BTTF conversion? - lukebrynycz - 18 Jan 2014

I agree Steve. Not one time machine will ever be 100% accurate as there were too many on the set. There's also improvements to be made, so it's best to add your own style to it.

Turn this thread into a sticky and let's share all the info here. If you post the company publicly, Mike can then order his p clips directly and it will help out others here that are looking for them. That's what this place is all about.

They are! In UK customs right now.

The person who told me, said explicitly not to tell you, but will happily share with others. Not my decision, I'll share anything else. Mike Hutchy is proof of that.

I personally wish you'd both tone it down a bit.

The picture has no relevance but is one of the FIRST EVER FULLY DRIVABLE BTTF REPLICA in the UK.

You look very pleased with yourself there, I imagine after many long hours putting it together. Smile
