WIRING HICCUP!! - Luscious - 19 Mar 2007

I wonder if someone would be so kind as to assist me with a wire hook-up problem as I'm a little unsure.

(1) There is a red-banded white wire which the wiring diagram says goes to the starter solenoid but there seems to be no connection point for this wire. There is, however, two blue/yellow wires which clip into a single plug which plugs into a single wire coming from the back of the starter.

(2) The wiring diagram also states that a white/brown wire goes to the oil pressure gauge sender, but I don't seem to have a white/brown wire. I certainly have a white/yellow wire which connects to the rear of the alternator but no white/brown wire.

(3) Lastly, there is a black wire with a red band which branches-off the harness against the engine compartment bulkhead. Can someone please assisst with the connection point of this wire.

Might be easier if I could possibly be sent some digital pics of the wiring set-up behind the starter, alternator and the oil pressure gauge sender.

Please go to the 'Topics Section' of www.ozdelorean.com to see pics of the wires in question.

Thanking you in anticipation. Luscious.

Right....

1. The red/white wire connects like this:

2. Have you got any wire connected to the oil pressure sender? It may be the PO has had to replace it.

3. The black wire with the red band should be connected to the front corner of the righthand side of the inlet manifold via an M7 bolt. The spade connector is known for getting corroded and not making a good connection - you may want to replace yours.

Thanks for your response, Richard. You asked if there was any wire connected to the oil sender. To be honest, I can't recall as it's been close to a year since I removed the engine and associated electrical wiring. What os the 'PO'? Lance H Big Grin

PO - previous owner ?

Previous owner was a specialist doctor who had the 'D' on display at the Sydney Motor Museum for 10 years or so. I doubt if he even knew even knew how to put air in the tyres!! Museum staff were only good at wiping the dust from their cars. Don't mean to sound cynical, but that's exactly how it was.

You asked "What is the PO?"
I replied "PO - Previous Owner ?"

I wasn't asking who the previous owner was !

Hope that's sorted any misunderstandings.

Be cool, 8)

NickT.
